Very nice Phil Lynott was amazing. I've heard there's a statue of him in Dublin somewhere. I want to see it if/when I get over there.

Re: Song of the Day Thread
A local Glasgow label I adore 'Invisible Inc' has released an absolutely stonking compilation to celebrate its 20th release. It's a killer blend of Fourth World, post punk, ambient, dub, jazz and techno.
Lost Transmissions From The Off-World Territories
Lost Transmissions From The Off-World Territories
DMarking the 20th release on Invisible, Inc. is this special limited edition double-vinyl gatefold compilation featuring tracks from some of the most highly respected musicians of the last five decades.
The astonishingly diverse palette of styles comes courtesy of renowned ambient innnovator Laraaji, multi-Grammy Award-winning producer and ground-breaking synthesist and sound engineer Malcolm Cecil (in his Tonto's Expanding Head Band guise), Italian 'Cosmic Disco' pioneer and DJ Daniele Baldelli, avantgarde experimentalist K. Leimer, New York electro synth-pop legend Richard Bone (all five of whom have been active since the '70s or earlier) as well as dub techno locked groove aficionados log(m), West Coast psychedelic electronics maestro Secret Circuit, Berlin-based synthesist/composer Eva Geist plus a veritable "who's who" of some of the finest producers of ambient, dub, downtempo, leftfield and experimental electronica ever collected together on a single piece of wax (or two in this case): Baikonour, Sordid Sound System, Causa, Ulysses, Epsilove, Luv*Jam, Higamos Hogamos, Randweg, Bronze Savage, Komodo Kolektif, Bal5000 and Natural Sugars.
Eliciting a distinct sense of musical other-worldlyness, the title is perhaps more than just a nod to Philip K Dick's "Blade Runner" and hints at the idea that if these transmissions 'from beyond' are 'lost' they may in essence be more rooted in our distant past than in some science fiction future.
Putting needle to record, ancient rhythms and hypnotic mantras merge with synthesized soundscapes and deep basslines to propel us upward from the primeval forest floor into steady orbit before engaging the hyperspace drive on a trajectory deep into the Great Mystery.

my song of the day is Stay in Touch by Interpol off the newest album which was released today. i cant even find a stream to post yet, but i love how it sort of just plows ahead and grows as the song goes on.

Ha, I'm listening to "Marauder" right now. I'm loving this album. The part when Paul starts signing "Marauder breaks bonds..."
Favorite song right now is Flight Of fancy. The breakdown at the end, man, that's some good stuff.

yeah that's a great one too! i really like this album too. one thing i noticed with Stay in Touch in particular, is if you play it at a soft volume, it has a totally different dynamic. if you play it loud as i have been, it really kicks. fun bass line to play too. actually going to see them in Portland in February now, my friend and I just booked flights and got tickets to the show. last time i saw them was over a decade ago, when Carlos was still in the band.
I'm a fan of Paul's bass playing on the album.
also this verse is one of my favorites, which is the same one you mentioned:
That's how you make a ghost
Watch how you break things you learn the most
Something about the one that negates hope
Marauder chained of no real code
Marauder breaks bonds
Marauder stays long
Plays with the real face on

Paul has definitely stepped up his bass playing game on this record. That's cool that you are seeing them on their upcoming tour. From the YouTube videos I heard; the new material absolutely slays live.BlixaFan wrote: ↑Sat Aug 25, 2018 4:45 pmyeah that's a great one too! i really like this album too. one thing i noticed with Stay in Touch in particular, is if you play it at a soft volume, it has a totally different dynamic. if you play it loud as i have been, it really kicks. fun bass line to play too. actually going to see them in Portland in February now, my friend and I just booked flights and got tickets to the show. last time i saw them was over a decade ago, when Carlos was still in the band.

I agree, he has! yeah, i don't know where you are in Canada, but they are not coming here, so my friend and i chose Portland as travel costs and ticket costs were the most reasonable! (yes, less than flying to Vancouver ). and I think 11 years since the last time I saw them is a long enough time that i'm due!

Dude, they are coming to my neck of the woods in Vancouver at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre January 31st, 2019. Tickets are kinda pricey though.BlixaFan wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 7:31 amI agree, he has! yeah, i don't know where you are in Canada, but they are not coming here, so my friend and i chose Portland as travel costs and ticket costs were the most reasonable! Stealing Sheep - Apparition not had much time to go through the new records this week, so I'm looking forward to the weekend. However my daughter really loves this and just wants to hear it again and again, so I'm picking it again and it has IMO the best video ever. (Time to get out the napkins for some dancing)
Btw did anyone recognise this village in Killing Eve?
