I love the old stuff, but I also like the post-punk/hardcore surf thing: Agent Orange, JFA. Their hardcore stuff is meh, but their fast n fuzzy versions of Misirlou, I-10, etc are killer. Even the Bangles very early on did a killer punk/surf instrumental called "Bitchin' Summer" on one of the Rodney on the ROQ comps. My surf band covers that one.
