does anyone in the London / Surrey area want to form a band?

Post by idiotbear » Sat Jan 27, 2007 6:50 am

I'm jonesing for a band in a big way, but the small ads seem only to result in mismatches, which is depressing. Now, I know I have a lot in common with a lot of you guys musically, so who wants to form a band?

I'm in West London (Staines, to be precise).

I play guitar (obviously), I sing, I play a pretty good piano, and I play cello too. I'm also a good songwriter, imho.

I want melodic, preferably danceable, a bit off-kilter, and occasionally very loud. A band that fits that description gets my vote every time.

I don't like Coldplay or "ballads". Which isn't to say I don't like quiet music, obviously.

Here are links to two of my past endeavours. All songs written, sung and guitared by me, and in the second case, everything else played by me too.

Sure, I'm in. As in "I'm in London once every four or five months".  :(

If anyone wants to come to Prague, I'm 110% up for it. Too many tired old has-beens here in CZ spending time in *dreadful* things like Richie Blackmore tribute bands etc. Either that or people say (at the first or second practice session) "I only want to play if we get paid real money".  :-\

Exactly! That's the whole process of being in a band. When I was in a band (oh, the years!) it worked like this: when you're starting, you should be happy to play ANYWHERE and if you get a cut of the door or a few free drinks, you're ahead of the game. The point it to play, screw up, learn from your mistakes, and get better. It's a long way to getting actual pay for your work.

These Czech guys I've seen think they should get paid to make noise on a stage in front of 10 drunk people.

Hey, thanks guys. The Bill and Ted think made me laugh  :D

Bill: Let's play 20 questions.
Ted: OK
Bill: Are you a mineral?
Ted: Yeah.
Bill: Are you a tank?
Ted: Whoah!

Your Myspace recordings are pretty good. Sadly though, I'm a little far away...
