I didn't mind it. Foo Fighters' version is still the best. I would never root for AI over actual humans making art, but there have been a few that I've really enjoyed, mostly dead artists covering songs that didn't exist while they were alive, most notably:
Frank Sinatra - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Frank Sinatra - Gangsta's Paradise
They're fun to hear what an alternate universe might sound like...
Kurt sings Everlong--AI voice and video. Beware.

I have a feeling the template they used for the song was how Dave performed it acoustically, especially in the early years. He always went much more mellow in the chorus vs. the album cut.
The Howard Stern version, for example.
As for this version, it's...fine? I agree the voice is better than some AI versions I've heard, but it's not really convincing either. If I heard that voice coming out of someone's phone speakers from ten feet away, it may make my ears perk up. When you get the chance to listen to it in full fidelity, though, it starts to fall apart.
I'd be interested to hear something done off the self titled record with that voice. "Wattershed" would really make or break the authenticity, given the intensity of Dave's voice on that song. YouTube randomly recommended another AI Cobain (CobAIn?) version of "Wattershed" to me a couple months ago, and it was absolutely terrible.

personally, i don't feel the need to outsource imagination to a crude algorithm scouring datasets.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 3:01 amFrank Sinatra - Smells Like Teen Spirit

But that's my point. Imagination is great, but without something putting in prompts to AI, in this case, if you wanted to hear this stuff, it wouldn't be possible except in your head and Imagination...MechaBulletBill wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 7:16 ampersonally, i don't feel the need to outsource imagination to a crude algorithm scouring datasets.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 3:01 amFrank Sinatra - Smells Like Teen Spirit
