2 new Raveonettes albums coming next year

Post by MC5tooge » Sat Dec 09, 2023 6:14 am

Danish radio is doing an appreciation all-day broadcast of the Raveonettes right now.
And previewed 2 new tracks (they're both very good) - "I Love How You Love Me" by the Perry Sisters from a covers album that's coming out on Cleopatra Records - and another (titled "Killer") from the next "proper" album, which is apparently going to be called "Peahi 2".
So good things ahead!

Updated - Sune and Sharin are now playing a playlist of the songs they're covering on the covers LP
Everly Bros - Dream Dream Dream
Cramps - Goo Goo Muck
The Perry Sisters - I Love How You Love Me
Shangri Las - Leader of the Pack
Gram Parsons - Return of the Grievous Angel
Vince Taylor - Shakin' All Over
Lee Hazlewood with the Duane Eddy Orchestra - The Girl on Death Row
The Velvet Underground - Venus in Furs (will be Sharin on vocals apparently)
Sherelles - Will You Love Me Tomorrow
Buddy Holly - Wishing

I have not listened to The Raveonettes in ages but this is very good news. I might be in the minority who love Pe'ahi, so I am excited that there will be a Pe'ahi 2! Cover album also sounds very interesting since the band is pretty much a 60s pop-covers group with distortion, so that seems pretty aligned.

Peahi is such an underrated album. They brought a couple of tracks back from it for their last Danish tour this time last year, which I was ecstatic about - they didn't tour it near me when the album came out.
The track that was previewed from Peahi 2 was very much in keeping with that album. Considering what Sune went through last year, there's no wonder the next album would be pretty dark.

I've liked everything they've done, except Atomized. I hated Atomized. But Pe'ahi 2 and another album (hopefully that sounds more like classic Raveonettes than Atomized) is awesome news!

EDIT: Oops, I meant Atomized (/2016 Atomized), not Observator.

Yeah I wasn't big on Atomized either. It was never really conceptualised as an album as such though, so I kind of forgive them for that. At least they actually gave it a physical release - they have several tracks that never got one.
Missed the beginning of the P6 radio broadcast first time round - but there are also 2 demos in the first part - pre-Raveonettes versions of an embryonic "Cops On Our Tail" and a 4-track demo of "Little Animal".
Also the announcement that there may or may not be a "box set" of rare stuff.

Cool! There’s some great songs on the covers record. My wife and I caught them 3 times the same year when they were still touring supporting Whip it On and Chain Gang of Love. They were great shows.
This isn’t some kind of metaphor
Goddamn this is real
