Surf instro album release (vinyl, digital) by Zak and the Krakens

Post by RaistMagus » Sat Sep 07, 2019 12:47 pm

Hi guys!

With my Copenhagen-based surf trio, Zak and the Krakens, we have just released our first album with original material : ) It's out on vinyl, digital and streaming, CDs are on the making. I hope you enjoy it!

You can listen to it on Spotify and most other streaming platforms, and buy the vinyl or wav/mp3s at our Bandcamp page. If you like what you hear, find us on our Facebook page.

Gear-wise, I have used a Jazzmaster and a strat through a Vox AC30 and a Super Reverb, plus a reverb tank. Green Rhino (Tubescreamer derivative) was almost always on, too. The JM is a thin-skin AVRI 62 made for Wildwood guitars in 2008.

Great sound! It’s kinda nice to hear surf through a Vox.

I'm very glad that you like it guys :D

For all songs apart from Analog astronauts, I used the JM through the Vox and the strat through the Super reverb. In astronauts I only used strats.

A serious issue we had was the high E string of the JM sounding like a sitar, we had to post process the guitar to filter the high pitched ringing sound out. After I changed the bridge to a staytrem it still sounds like this : / I'll start another thread for this I guess.
