Talking Heads

Post by jakeisjake » Fri Aug 02, 2019 7:14 pm

so...what was up with employing two basses? Aside from the why(?) (altho I am a bit curious about that, too)...I always thought Weymouth was a pretty good bass player

but

how did they pull it off? was one turned down? why isn't it a messy soup of thump?
If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

A little while back I posed an interview with Tina Weymouth and she talks about playing with the other bassist. I don't remember what she said exactly, but she didn't seem disgruntled about it and seemed to consider it to be part of adding sonic character to the show.

I always assumed that she was turned down because David Byrne didn't like her.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

David Byrne didn't like anyone.
