A appreciation thread
Nope, not a typo or grammatical error - I'm talking about A, the British alt-rock band that started out in the 90's.
They are completely and utterly un-googleable. Good luck getting them to pop up on Spotify unless you happen to remember one of their album names, at which point you can search for that and then select "artist" to get to their band page. I feel like whatever fan base they have or would have these days can't possibly be helped by this.
So, who here remembers them? "Have the night," a B-side from the Japanese release of their Rush Song single (insanely pretentious reference to unobtainable tracks, sorry) has one of my favourite simple-but-effective guitar riffs of all time. And I have no idea how to share it with anyone...just try googling "Rush song single by A" and see how far you get...it's all Rush songs, which makes sense since Rush fans probably outnumber A fans 1,000,000:1.
It's almost as though they intentionally trolled by making their music unsearchable, though they formed in '93 so I don't think they had google in mind at the time. I've never met another fan of theirs in my life because I came of age at the tail end of their touring career and across the Atlantic. Again, I refer you to the fact that "A music fan page," "fans of A," "A alternative rock band," etc are not exactly useful. With the Venn diagram of Brits, '90's alt-rock fans, and champions of underdog bands that exists on OSG, I figure there might be some here. They reformed and started touring the UK in 2018 so it's possible that someone here could actually have seen them, or could still see them in London on the 18th, or in Cheltenham in July (their only remaining currently-announced gigs of 2019).

Re: A appreciation thread
I remember their logo being near omnipresent on flyposted album posters at one time and on hoodies and really not liking the 'mom I won't tidy my room' tone to the vocals in particular. I always just assumed then were American due to the logo but at one point I mistook them for Busted, not sure why, it could have been either berm the sound, the way they dressed or the jumping up and down thing.
I'll fully admit to being the last person to ask about at sort of thing.
Can help you with your link though; A - Have the Night

I get what you mean about the vocals. And not all their stuff is great. But they were one of those bands that struck the right chord with me as a teenager. It makes sense that they must have been big enough at some point in the UK for you to be unwillingly exposed to them...I mean, I managed to get wind of them in Canada, but barely. Was never a superfan but something reminded me of them recently which prompted some ill-fated google attempts and hence my post.
Thanks for digging up that song, that's the one!

If it makes you happy I'll just go over to the very popular '+1 dude', with a '+1 bro I loved those dudes in college' if I'm feeling particularly chatty.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Re: A appreciation thread
never heard them before...but they sound great!
If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...
