Gary Clark Jr "This Land"

Post by Larry Mal » Sun Feb 24, 2019 6:42 pm

First song of his I ever heard, I really only know him from the cool SG. But I happened to be reading this article, which is interesting, and I thought I'd take a listen to the song- great song, powerful video.

Worth a look.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Agreed. I enjoy hearing it every time it comes on and have really liked seeing him play it live on the various tv shows.

He's the real fucking deal.

I've been a fan of his for the last three albums (saw him on ACL) and damn. The new album is amazing.

Good to know that his albums are good. I only ever heard Bright Lights, and loved it, but I'm usually hesitant about artists you don't hear more about. Which is strange as I don't listen to popular music very much :D It's a good song. The dude has some soul, and I like it. I might have to check out some of his albums.

I liked some of his older stuff. This seems like a departure from that even though I haven't really kept up with him lately. Idk how I feel about the song. Definitely not his best work musically. I can understand where he's coming from with the statement he's trying to convey. Although, with the way the social culture/temperature is these days it just blends in like a wall flower and seems a bit gimmicky. It seems that we're at a point in history where the boldest statements are no longer bold.
