Holygram - Still There
I was hanging out with a friend who's got similar taste in music to me, and she had a mix on and this song came up. I instantly fell in love, and will be buying the album Modern Cults this morning when I get paid. I went through a bit of the album to make sure it's not just one song that I liked, and it seems like something a few of you guys might dig.

Re: Any Appreciation For Holygram?
I've got their first record that came out on the Spanish label Oraculo, I think I basketed it when I was buying something else to pad out the post. It's OK but the real Oraculo gem is Boy Harsher - Lesser Man/Pain EP. I wasn't so into the song you posted it like they've tried to go KVB with added generic gazing but aren't as good. IMO the first record is more primitive but better.
You should try the latest KVB album Only Now Forever; Spotify and a youtube playlist.
If you like it there's a KVB thread.

I like Boy Harsher so far! KVB isn't bad, but the vocals are kinda lackluster to me. Kinda droning/passionless. I like the instrumentals though. Thanks for the suggestions David!

Honestly I think the song played most in our house over the last three years is Pain by Boy Harsher, every young Shadowplay loves it, some enought to play the flipping thing 20 times in a row. There's nothing to it, it's crushing in it's simplicity, repetition and it's dark floor filling sensuality. There's something about her voice that makes it home in on the pleasure centres, it's more enveloping smoke than traditional domineering lead singer,
Really looking forward to the new elpee in a few weeks the new songs sound en pointe.

Totally agree! Pain is a really great track. Personally, I've always preferred female singers in almost everything. It's not a deal breaker if a group doesn't have a woman singing for them, but it definitely makes for a much higher chance that I'll like the music if there is. I might have to pick up both Boy Harsher albums!!shadowplay wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 2:52 amHonestly I think the song played most in our house over the last three years is Pain by Boy Harsher, every young Shadowplay loves it, some enought to play the flipping thing 20 times in a row. If you want to start dipping further into modern Darkwave your next step should probaby be the work of Alison Lewis or Zoe Zanias as she calls herself these days. Her two old bands were Linea Aspera and Keluar but she now trades as Zanias.
Those bands are very much canon darkwave and minimal wave, with Linea Aspera more minimal wave slanted and Keluar more carrying the 80's Belgian EBM torch but her new record is down the street marked Dead Can Darkwave, taking in eastercisms and a noticeable DCD influence. She's also done some prestigious guest vocal's for the likes of Ancient Methods and Black Rain
Zanias - Into The All
and an album related video where she goes all Dune; Zanias - Aletheia
Keluar Bandcamp
Linea Aspera - Bandcamp
I said my kids played Pain to death, the older ones did the same with Linea Aspera - Malarone.
