Re: CHillwave fans???
Have any links to the stuff you're digging lately? It sounds interesting, but I honestly don't know any of them off the top of my head.

Re: CHillwave fans???
I thought Memoryhouse were one of the better bands lumped in with Chillwave back in the late zeros but in many ways they were classic dreampop, and they were way less arch than a lot of bands and she had a lovely voice (they are still going and making more dreamy guitar pop)
Memoryhouse - To The Lighthouse
Memoryhouse - Caregiver
I've seen Pallers and Korallreven lumped in with Chillwave too.
At the same time there was darker music being made with some things in common with 'chillwave' (r&b influence production) which was dubbed 'witch house. Bands like Salem and White Ring who released a not bad in places album this year. This style was largely abandoned as hoodied mall goths headed into Darkwave which is a maligned genre with some great bands. I especially like Boy Harsher but his a wander right off the reservation.
I'll leave it at that since these threads tend to follow the same old pattern where the OP asks, people post answers and then never comes back.
Chillwave was IMO one of the more rum genre terms bandied about a decade ago and it largely withered on the vine or splintered out into other slightly related and similarly maligned genres like the vaporware.
One vaporware record I'd really recommend is 2814 : Rain Temple but you could argue that it has little in common with a lot of genre records ina genre that's often too arch of it's own good and is instead a fathomless ambient spinal icicle (think 4AD X BOC).
D
PS I liked How To Dress Well, Cold Nites is great song;
How To Dress Well - Cold Nites
How To Dress Well - Cold Nites (Koreless remix)
The Just Once EP with the orchestral versions is brilliant, it's really closer to something like Spiritualized than a Chillwave fad.
Memoryhouse - To The Lighthouse
Memoryhouse - Caregiver

Re: CHillwave fans???
i used to tour / perform with Memory Tapes, who often got lumped in with this "genre"
the term is pretty whack and i kind of find a wide spectrum of bands and acts in this category.

Indeed. In fact if Budda is talking Chillwave 2018 I've literally no clue what it could be referring to.dinosaurkale-> wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 4:54 amthe term is pretty whack and i kind of find a wide spectrum of bands and acts in this category.

Re: CHillwave fans???
I enjoy the "genre"... but to me it was more of a movement
I'd recommend the usual suspects. Neon Indian, Toro y Moi and Washed Out.
But it's a wide genre tbh. I released an EP in 2016 and some blogs labeled it as "Brazilian Chillwave" haha https://triplepsia.bandcamp.com/album/triplepsia
