Yeah, maybe I should've just called this thread "Name the guitarists in bands you like"....
Maybe.
For me the thread ended as soon as Franklin/Hartridge aka Swervedriver were named.

“Feed Us A Fetus” by the Dayglow Abortions has brilliant interplay between two lead guitars!

So basically this thread was made so Unicorn Catalyst and his cronies could tell people what great guitar double-acts/interplay are okay in there clique.
Got it.
Swervedriver doesn't count because one guy is supposedly the rhythm guitarist and one guy is supposedly the lead guitarist.
The Go-Betweens, even though both play lead or rhythm depending on who wrote the song, don't count because.... (is it because they are a pop band or because they don't fit into YOUR definition of a guitar double-act/interplay)?
I'm sorry for being one of the people who 'ruined' your thread by stating two guitarists who I enjoy playing off of each other. I guess I'm not cool enough.
I like Sleater-Kinney too, but they shouldn't count because they have a lead and rhythm guitarist.
I always recommend this forum to people seeking knowledge on offsets because the community is usually so great here.

Swervedriver doesn't count in my book because I've never been able to stand them.
This is an excellent rectangle

My sarcasm was based on numerous contributions which were basically, as far as I could tell, the bog-standard band set-up with a lead guitarist playing over a rhythm part. That approach to music is all well and good, but I was looking for stuff to
really catalyse my unicorns.

The Go-Bees were great song writers and they released brilliant music but they weren't about great guitar interplay, same could be said for The Triffids and the McComb brothers, David was a great songwriter but their guitar interplay was nothing special.
Although it probably falls outside the original intent of the thread, no mention of 'Evil' Graham Lee when the Triffids come up?
For 'interplay' I'd say his and J.P Shilo's efforts on 'Close Your Eyes and See' by The Blackeyed Susans probably rates a mention for mine.
"I don't know why we asked him to join the band 'cause the rest of us don't like country music all that much; we just like Graham Lee."
David McComb, 1987.

You'd actually be very wrong about Swervedriver if you think one is a rhythm guitarist and the other is a lead.
As for the ruining of the thread tantrum, I merely pointed out that the Go-Bees didn't really count (and I saw them a lot back in the 80/90s), you disagree fine.
That's discussion and debate, ideal things for a message board/forum.

Good call Andy, J.P's playing is perfect for a foil and as Evil likes to tell people he's just there to fill the gaps.

I don't see John Renbourn & Bert Jansch yet which were an incredible pair. Also, Neil Young & Danny Whitton. They had some amazing interplay.
We are merely moving shadows.
