Listened to that track. Found it super boring. Got half way through and turned it off.

I would really appreciate some of the members here to cool it...

With that out of the way: How about RATT? They enlist Carlos Cavazo from Quiet Riot and they still play and rock out. Not a huge fan, but seems like a good time in vegas if you go to their show. I always thought Warren of RATT was a great guitar player...The songs I do remember are "you think your tough", and "lay it down".

Love the Smashing Pumpkins, happy James is back, will go to their Upcoming concert in LA, but no...
Song is derivative and dull. Can't blame them for trying though. I don't know of any band that only made great songs. Try writing another one.

I’m with the folks who dismiss Corgan out of hand for the Alex Jones association. That motherfucker is pure evil, and if you associate with him, you deserve to burn in hell too.. Alex Jones is now trying to say Antony Bourdain got whacked because he was about to come out pro-Trump, Kanye style. The company you keep matters, even in art.

It is actually none of these things and is a perfectly valid argument.
TBH, I never undestood what people liked about this band. The singing alone is enough. They have been shit then, when they were ripping off shoegaze and pretending to be original, and they are still shit now.
That said, I love love love 'Here is No Why'. Here is a great version.

Yes....great...back to RATT...
Here is a long lost and forgotten video....live from 1983

If you look very carefully at the front row, left side you can see Billy Corgan....

Children, children... the thread asked what you think of the new song not of the members behind it, I could care less what your thoughts are on the members, if anything your views on them are extremely dull.
The song doesn't have the typical alt rock bells and whistles but I still find it a moving experience, it's solid and builds nicely to the 3:50 mark that is quite explosive. I'm sure if Billy busted out into one of his trademark solos you'd complain about that as well. xD Objectively it is a decent track, try listening with open ears and open minds. Free yourself.

Re: New Smashing Pumpkins....what say ye...??
It is in 4/4 time, and features a modern rock and roll combo consisting of bass guitar, and electric guitar, and a drum kit played by a drummer who is playing snare drum, an assortment of tom-toms, a bass drum and various cymbals. There is also a singer. It lasts for a little over four minutes, so it is not as long as a lot of symphonies or jazz compositions can be. This is a rock and roll song.
It has a good beat and you can dance to it.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Re: New Smashing Pumpkins....what say ye...??
Fair enough.
I listened to it, and while it does have that distinctive Smashing Pumpkins sound, there is absolutely nothing interesting about it. Essentially there's nothing new going on in there and it's a bit boring. This is coming from someone who was a huge fan in the '90s, and who still occasionally gives Gish and Siamese a spin.
(Just for clarity: This is not my opinion because I think Corgan is a terrible human. If I did like it, I'd listen to it then complain that something I like was made by a terrible human and I was conflicted).

Your condescension would have a little more bite if you used the phrase ‘couldn’t care less’ correctly. If you could care less, then you’re saying you still care. How dull. As far as the track is concerned, it sucks. Objectively.soggy mittens wrote: ↑Sun Jun 10, 2018 6:29 pmChildren, children... the thread asked what you think of the new song not of the members behind it, I could care less what your thoughts are on the members, if anything your views on them are extremely dull.

The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Re: New Smashing Pumpkins....what say ye...??
The first thing that comes to mind : the Drums sound as if they were programmed... lifeless - both soundwise and also how they are played
Also the guitar distortion sounds very "digital" and clean...
The track itself is not bad but also not much that'll stick - very generic
I could do without the "aiaiaia" part for shure...
I youtubed Corgan a few months back and was very amused from some interviews about his conspiracy stuff and also his Wrestling business
edit: the best thing about this was the new Interpol track that followed - didn't know they had a new album coming out

Smashing Pumpkins is so representative of part of my youth that is always a little painful to see what they (he) became.
Anyhow, I listened to the new track. It is, at best, useless.
Bah.
