I am really enjoying this. I didn't know they'd still been recording music so when I discovered this I bought the previous two albums as well and they're just as good.

I don't know how they manage to stick to pretty much the same formula and still sound fresh and engaging. There's always a distinct bitter melancholy underneath the full-tilt power pop, maybe that's it.

Saw these guys when they played LA a couple of months ago in support of this record.

Holy fuck, it was about the most rocking thing I've ever seen, especially for a bunch of old dudes (Laura doesn't tour anymore). And Mac absolutely slays all those leads while jumping around like a maniac. Go see Superchunk if you ever get a chance.

I concur. Mac is one of my all time favorite frontpeople. He's all over stage like a kid hopped up on Halloween candy while simultaneously ripping absolutely blistering lead parts. And he's 50. And he's been doing it for 30+ years. So cool.

I have been enjoying the new album, too. I went to the show in DC about a month back and really enjoyed it. As others have mentioned, Mac and the rest of the band still go hard on stage. I was impressed with their energy, especially given that the last time I saw them was 16 years ago and the first time I saw them was 22 years ago!
