Released yesterday. I really like it - most of my friends wrote him off as a solo artist, but I think he’s still making great records. I’d like to see him live sometime.

There is definitely some weak material on the solo records, but I would say the same about Pavement *dodges rotten tomatoes”

I tend to like SM's stuff more, post Pavement. Pavement is great, although there's definitely stuff I never got, can't bear to listen. SM+Jicks is way more matured and fun. Fun band live too. Highly recommend. For the record, I feel like all the hipster, indie-r than thou pretense surrounding Pavement is sort of left at the door of a Jicks show. Its like, at this point, no cares about being non-chalant, well read, ironic.

I am a huge Pavement and Jicks fan. The Jicks' albums are some of my favorites, with the possible exception of Face the Truth. To me, Malkmus is one of the more interesting guitar players around and he has only improved since the Pavement days.
