Re: 2017 Favorite Album(s)?
Here are the ones that stick out for me:
Temples - Volcano (retro brit psyche done well)
Sparks - Hippopotamus (I love all things Sparks, but this album in particular is staggeringly good)
Maximo Park - Risk to Exist (these boys rarely fail to excite, and this is no exception)

Chad Vangaalen - Light Information
and
Sadies - Northern Passages
Spent a good amount of fine time with Alvvays, Walrus, Jay Som, Waxahatchee, Slowdive, Wand and Kurt & Courtney but Light Information and Northern Passages were the kind of albums were every track spent time as your favorite during the year and any reason is good enough to throw them on again.

1. Sincerely Future Pollution - Timber Timbre
2. Lotta Sea Lice - Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile
3. Hiss Spun - Chelsea Wolfe
I didn't actually check out as much new music as I usually do this year. The National would probably e up here if I had given it more time.

Sounds Better With Reverb has been off the air for twelve months but has just returned with a huge review/playlist of 2017 releases.

Checked that site a few weeks ago and was disappointed that it hadn't been updated.sammynb wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2017 3:03 pmSounds Better With Reverb has been off the air for twelve months but has just returned with a huge review/playlist of 2017 releases.

Re: 2017 Favorite Album(s)?
I don’t know about favorites, but the ones that got the most listening time for me were:
- Sylvan Esso - What Now
- Dan Auerbach - Waiting On A Song
- Steady Sun - Indifferent World
- Grizzly Bear - Painted Ruins
- Mavis Staples - If All I Was Was Black
- The National - Sleep Well Beast
- Iron & Wine - Beast Epic
- Timber Timbre - Sincerely, Future Polution
- Gorillaz - Humanz
- Soulwax - FROM DEEWEE
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

1. This. Top my list this year. Saw them play one of Yo La Tengo's Hannukah shows -- holy shit, those brothers can play. And can play each other's neck while picking their own. Hard to explain, but best showmanesque guitar trickery I've seen in a long long time. True players who know what feedback's for. Just incredible. /[swoon]
Other records I can now say made 2017 a little less terrible:
2. Elliott Sharp -- "Err Guitar"
3. Hidden Rifles -- "Across the Neighborhoods"
4. Nathaniel Braddock -- "Quadrille & Collapse"
5. The New Year -- "Snow"
6. Doggo -- "Rare Crush"
7. Rainer Maria -- S/T
8. Pile -- "Hairshirt of Purpose"
9. The Bismarck -- "Follow Your Heart"
10. Kaleidoscope -- "Volume 3"
Honorable mention, 'cause it's really the best record of 1976: Neil Young -- "Hitchhiker"

Re: 2017 Favorite Album(s)?
I just recently got into these guys. Glad to hear that they still have it! I lose interest in so many artists I like after the first album or two...
