If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

I love New Order, and this is one of my favorite songs of theirs:

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Love NO. I like Crystal but I'm not a big fan of the intro, I wish it just came straight on with the drums.

Cool tune Larry, hadn't heard that one in a while. Ceremony is probably my fave:

I liked them best when they played the old Joy Division stuff ...

Bernard Sumner is a great example of the maxim that you don't have to be a great technical guitarist to come up with great guitar music.

Really been getting into New Order/Joy division. Interesting that he had a confederate flag on his SG

Not all that interesting, probably just doesn't know what it means. Kind of like how a lot of Americans have tattoos of Chinese or Japanese kanji characters that say things like "table" or "fish".

It's more a Dukes of Hazzard thing for us folks in the UK.
I'm a big fan of New Order. Hugely influential for me.

I think it's more used in a semiotic way. Though it could just be a terrible misjudgement.

My favourite New Order is Video 5-8-6, sadly only on the Touch Cassette only compilation from 1982, which features a cracking Eric Random track. On the Comp Video 4-5-6 was split into two but in 97' Touch did the right thing, unified the spheres and put it on a12'.

I really like the Peel Session version of 4-5-6 which is on the Strange Fruit release and of course had vocals like the one on PCL.

I saw New Order a lot in the early 80's but I'd pay money NOT to see them or Peter Hook's pish these days.

If it means someone is keeping the Joy Division music alive, I can stomach Peter Hook's approach to doing so. I saw some seminal bands from that period who toured down here at the bottom of the world (including early New Order), but i never saw Joy Division. I don't mind hearing his band's Joy Division renditions on youtube, although they took a bit of getting used to (esp his singing). And his bass playing was integral to their sound.

Although if you would prefer not to see him looking like he's about to play a round of golf, maybe this is better ... ;)

That's what records are for.

Nah it's a crime against taste. Send in the taste police to bundle anyone with a ticket into the back of an unmarked van for a date with a truncheon.

I honestly can't imagine anyone I know attending such shite...fucking vaudeville.

I remember when I was a kid (back in the dayes of actual Joy Divison) and hearing about old 60's bands out touring with one original member round the Butlins camps and wonder why anyone would bother with that shite when there were plenty of band releasing records now they could go and see and my opinion hasn't changed. I still not go and see the One Tops or Peter Hook does Joy Division.

You're welcome to your opinion. I don't share it (obviously).

And BTW 'modern' post punk is an oxymoron ... to those of us who were there for post punk.
