Anyone Familiar with Slowdive Tunings? (Concert Photos Added)

Post by Unicorn Warrior » Tue Sep 12, 2017 7:16 pm

Anyone know some of the tunings they commonly use? especially Christian's parts as his builds are wonderful.

I know they use standard and drop-d a lot. But there are some that I can't figure out.

Anyone?

I'm thinking they may use a variation of dadgad/dadgae..perhaps something else?

Someone on here is bound to know

this interviewer kind of missed the obvious question, but it's an entertaining interview nonetheless and details his board at that point -

I love how he doesn't care to use that pedal to its full capabilities. Just a testament to how he doesn't get all wrapped up in the meaningless nuances that many consider a prime element of his music.

You would think the guitar player from one of the most iconic shoegaze bands would more than know his way around his effects. Nope. He obviously doesn't care what the $300 dollar pedal does. The boost works and that's enough. That's rock and roll to me.

Anyway...still really haven't found luck deciphering his tunings, although I haven't sat down to experiment for myself yet.

I will be seeing them very very soon and it's the most excited I think I've been for a concert.

That's exciting to hear. I took off work for their concert in Colombus and will be driving 3.5 hours to catch them. Not convenient at all, but the regret I would have for not seeing them would last a lifetime I know

I’ve seen them a few times since reuniting. They really are amazing.

They have an edge to them now that they never used to have.

Just saw them a few hours ago. I can't get over how it was everything I'd hoped it would be. I was so close. Several times I locked eyes with Neil and Rachel. It was so surreal. Best concert I've ever seen. Very thankful I got to experience that.

It really was magical. They are so classy. So humble. Charming in every way.

Couple that with their awesome performance. The power went out for a few minutes. I was distraught thinking it may not come back. Thankfully after about 5 minutes they were back at it. You would have thought the outage would have hindered their momentum, but they persevered through it. The entire crowd was in their hand. Veterans of their trade and the epitome of cool.

On stage they said they spent the night before at a bar doing karaoke. Would have loved to have seen that.
