I'll bite. I've been on and off again working on an extended suite of instrumental and primarily electronic music. I figure it'll be half an hour or so, maybe 45 minutes, and I'll write them out as individual songs each with their own sections and then I'll put them all together in the extended bigger piece.

This is an incomplete mix, to say the least, and not necessarily a finished song, but hey. Someone has to get this thread rolling:

Thanks, man! I love Tom Waits and Elliott Smith so much, I think they've both infused themselves into my DNA.


Also, true story: I named my firstborn Elliot, after Elliott Smith. That's how much his music means/meant to me.

I've done some one-off recordings and a quick and dirty acoustic album, but this is the project I'm most proud of.

I've always written my own songs over the years, even when playing in other bands and it's only recently that I've decided to bring other people into the writing process. Of course now I'm also experiencing a little burnout and want to play someone else's music again (in addition).

No, and there were years when I forbade myself from writing any kind of music on guitar. I would get in a rut, just hammer out the same chords all the time, and anyway I was taking a bunch of music composition classes, so playing guitar only held me back. Even now I forbid myself from writing music on it a lot.

But, if you want to know what a guitar jam sounds like with me, here you go, I just bullshitted this out but it was fun, and in honor of Elliot Smith I used my Gibson Es-330, but I don't think I play like him, do I, Todd?

But you can name your next kid Larry if you want.
