My copy is set to arrive by next Wednesday, but I've been listening to the album nonstop for the last week or so.

And special thanks to hewstigator for kindly indulging my fanboy curiosities. 8)

btw folk in Europa seeking the Lake Ruth record might find the cupboard bare at thegreatpopsupplement but Norman have them in keenly priced to sell at a mere tenner!

Thanks, just bought it sight unseen (sound unheard?) based on the recommendations here, and to help support a fellow OSGer. Sometimes it's fun to be surprised.

big ups!

i find it oddly appropriate that of all the various guitar forums, OSG has the best thread on hauntological music.

Btw Hewson I need to thank you for introducing me to Alan Mills, Jr. I love his work after fanning out from the album sleeve and I'm not saying I'm mean but its amazingly well priced and I'll be buying some in the future for sure if I can get in before it sells. Mrs S loves it too, it's amazing he's just 40 miles down the road.

Btw part deux...off the top of my head I've probably more records you've played on across The New Lines and Lake Ruth than anyone else who posts on OSG? I've the odd record by the likes of Yellow6 who used to post here and Orange Yellow Red but I think you have the dubious honour of my most OSG records.

The really liked that you covered Le Super Homard, that was a record I recommended far and wide in real life and on OSG too.

I'm glad we have a thread for this sort of thing, it's a broad church and in some ways a bit unfair on the diverse bands to rope them all together but at the same time I feel they need exposure and better generalise than ignore. I guess this thread starts with Broadcast and if anything I'm driven by the fact that they became better known after Trish died and came just hold people find and appreciate bands while they are still going and give them the support and encouragement to keep going both financial and just simple recognition.

I hope there's similar threads elsewhere, better ones too.

werd, i'll definitely owe you drinks if you ever come 'round these parts! alan mills jr. is a sweetheart - we'd been admiring his work for a while and just asked him about using that painting on a lark, never thinking that he would actually be open to the idea, also that's wild about how close geographically you guys are... small world!

i had a similar small-world experience after you'd recommended michael tanner in this thread - i started gushing about plinth to my bandmate allison and it turns out she'd already been friends with michael and his collaborator, alison cotton...!

dunno if you guys know about this group - galaxy electric...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu2W1wZQyvU

i was watching them perform and the guy had a box with marbles and motors and metal doodads banging around (with a piezo pickup i guess) going into his rig... coulda sworn the motor was actually powered by a CV coming out of his modular, during a more intense portion of the set the marbles started tumbling out of the box and rolling off the stage! it was dope.

New to me thanks, especially grateful because I doubt I'd have picked that record out due to the ironic sleeve. Managed to buy the first record but struggling to find Tomorrow Was Better Yesterday if it exists on black format at all.

I haven't found much info on them, but some snooping uncovered these gear shots (I'm such a nerd for shit like this):
I think I detected the presence of Farfisa.

Is that a couple of cards from a deck of analog synth Top Trumps? Brilliant!

Yeah, she's on fire from about two minutes in. I love that kind of jazz-inflected drumming that works more like a rolling bed for everything else to sit on rather than just a beat.

Nice to see actual real vibes being used as well. Those things are a pain in the neck to cart around I'm sure.
Distance-crunching honcho with echo unit.

Ah! The Galaxy Electric is from DC?

Edit: they moved to DC from LA? Will wonders never cease?

Well, I guess I'll have to "like" their facebook page. The world is now brimming with promise,
