Offsets on The Gong Show 7/6
Mostly a lurker here, but figure some might be interested - my band, Meshugga Beach Party, is on tomorrow (7/6) night's episode of The Gong Show on ABC-TV. Look out for Shecky with a Jazzmaster and Treyf with a lefty Jazz Bass. I'm the yutz on the right with the non-offset.

Re: Offsets on The Gong Show 7/6
Thanks guys!
The performance is on youtube now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Oq6tK3 ... u&index=31
The guitar is my own design that I've been working on with a friend for over five years. It's a semi-solid carved archtop that folds in half while maintaining string tension. We call our brand Alameda Guitars http://AlamedaGuitars.com and the model is FE-200 (Folding Electric). Here are three of the four currently in existence - the first one I scratch built is in the middle, and the guitar I played on TV on the left. We're working with a trusted luthier to build more and the final pre-production units will be done in the next few months.
Here it is folded. Collapsed length is 24".
The pickups are a hybrid asymmetric bobbin design I developed. The bobbins use different magnet types, coil shapes and wire gauge, and the pickup includes a boost coil which allows for a wide range of tonal characteristics, including a single coil and humbucking configuration at the same output level. They can go from chime to twang to crunch to grind depending on the coil selection.
I've made the pickups to fit in different types of pickup forms, including Jazzmaster, soapbar/dogear P90s, Gibson HB and Gretsch filtertrons. Here's a set I installed in a Gretsch G5420 over the weekend. I made a rather pedantic demo of the pickups in the Gretsch if you have some time and are interested.

Great performance! thanks for sharing!
And WOW! Cool project! Great that it has no fretboard separation like it was on the Hoyer Foldaxe (when folded).

Yes - the Foldaxe!!!! I would love to see one in person. I wonder how many were made? I've seen a video of Chet Atkins with one. It's a prior art mention in our patent. Having the joint in the neck allows it to fold even smaller, but we felt neck integrity was more important. Also, we wanted our guitar to have traditional styling.
