Hmmm. interesting. I always thought they sold out to someone like Petraglia after their second album when theit sound started to change and their first two albums were authentic. This is disappointing.

I was also disappointed when I found out that Andrew WK is the creation of the record company and that multiple actor/performers may have portrayed Andrew WK.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure Andrew YK is legit, at least according to Wikipedia-- which details some legal BS he had to deal with in 2004 or so.

Please don't tell me you actually believe a website that claims Andrew W.K is part of the Illuminati and a Scientologist.

There is definitely more to Andrew WKs background than we know about.

I dont think it's about authenticity; it's about performance. I think you can perform at your maximum level when you are reading lyrics (or sheets). Rock/jazz/indie, etc, are not the same has classical music. The performance is note the same. Someone posted a picture of a "souffleur" (promtper in english???) for theater. Like rock music, it's impossible to make a really great performance with a "souffleur".

My opinion is probably due to the fact that I am a dad liking jazz and blues music. I dont have hawain shirt though, too cold in Montréal to wear that.

Look it up. He sounds way different than I Get Wet album. There are videos of Andrew WK saying that there are many actors playing the role.

"In May 2009, W.K. discussed the accusations in an interview with British magazine Front, in which he stated that "the nature of how we presented my initial offerings caused some confusion, even though I tried to make it as straightforward as possible," and: "Different people I've worked with and different parts of my back story have gotten twisted and changed. But I made the music on my albums – I had a lot of help from incredible people, but not the kind of help that some people think."

"A lecture recorded at Madame Jojo's in London in September 2008 was published online by The Guardian in which W.K. addressed claims about his "secret history" in a tongue-in-cheek manner, making reference to various conspiracy theories which emerged in the wake of the aforementioned disputes. Apparently in response to criticism and confusion over these statements, Andrew W.K. published an article on January 3, 2010 on his official website declaring himself to be "a real person who thinks for himself" and "not the victim of anyone or group of people trying to influence my career or life." .... "I am Andrew W.K., the same that has been here from the beginning... I am... I am, I am the same Andrew W.K. at this appearance as at all Andrew W.K.-related appearances."

These are his actual words about himself and his career. If you want to put stock in a website that claims he is part of the Illuminati, a Scientologist, a Free Mason, and the product of a government program to develop the perfect rock star which Dave Grohl and Nirvana are also involved with somehow, then I have some other websites you may be interested in about the Flat Earth Society and Moon Landing Hoax.

He did a Q&A at Santos party house where he said he is an actor and many people have played the character of Andrew WK. Also his words. Get your self out of that one link and look it up, there is a lot more that he has talked about publicly

Even that site is pretty confused and seems to (mostly) say he's the same guy. There is certainly some playing with the idea of portraying a character, but no more.

Quotes pulled from 4 different (verifiable) references including interviews and official statements made on his own website, but okay. You need to learn to seperate his publicity antics from the reality of his persona, he's poured fuel on the fire multiple times regarding these "conspiracies" but when pressed has always maintained that there is only one Andrew WK and that he has recorded all of his own material since his first album.

...and if the "Santos Q&A" video you're referring to is the one where he pretends to be reading from a teleprompter, you're missing the joke. He's fully self-aware.

It is surprising how much press and money Andrew WK gets for making one known album 16 years ago. He had enough money to own a club in NYC, will be on TV as a personality, and has people show up to shows where he sings to a backing track and plays piano.
