I actually wanted to link Satori part III, but I couldn't find it, so I just linked the entire album. I dunno how they did it. Wish I did: sounds killer.

This is my favorite fuzz tone. Pretty sure it's a Fuzzrite or maybe and Orpheum fuzz. Love it.

Neither of these fuzz tones are particularly hard to imagine aping but I think they are interesting in context and they popped out at me when I was playing the records over the weekend.

John Berberian & Rock East Ensemble - The Oud & The Fuzz the setting/juxtaposition is definitely more important than the specific tone but I like how parched and strangled it is.

Embryo - A Place To Go the fuzz kinda aping a dessicated shehnai (indian Oboe)

Vangelis - The Dragon fuzz guitar is but a minion of the tracks mighty big bottomed bellydance swagger but it comes in like a Stuka, diving strafing, pulling up at just the right moment, again more crushed than crushing.

If you want messed up and blasted acid rock disaster have a look at Anthroprophh and once very undersung host organism The Heads.

However...fuzz (or just broken sounding guitar) that had more of a direct influence on me is....Cabaret Voltaire - Split Second Feeling.

I think he's done much to rehabilitate 'proper' fuzz (not distortion) and also unmoor it from excessively regressive tendencies, since he's gotta bitta techno in his bones and a horizon chasing taste for repetition. I liked Wooden Shijps but I really got into the Speed EP when it came out and when Escape came out I remember me and one of the kids just fucking playing "Motorcycle, I Love You" again and again and again, until an adult told us ENOUGH!
