my latest album is released "Pomona"

Post by Fenderguy » Fri Sep 09, 2016 1:25 am

Hey folks! Me and my band has just released our third album, it`s called "Pomona". I was hoping some of you would check it out :)
I wrote many of the tunes on some old Fenders, so I thought "Pomona" was a fitting title.

It`s available on iTunes now: https://itunes.apple.com/no/album/pomona/id1144881870
You can buy the cd from amazon etc from sept 16th.

We got a really nice review from All About Jazz the other day :)
https://www.allaboutjazz.com/steel-guit ... kgaard.php

"Pomona is filled with sweeping, lush landscapes. A kind of Nordic Americana...
Pomona is filled with melodic stories that have a cinematic twist and Aadal has carved his own niche with this album and Abigail."

Guitar nerd info :)
On this record I used two guitars; a Danocaster Blackguard and my old 1962 Strat.
Two amp were used, an old AC30 and a Silverface Deluxe Reverb. Mic`d with a couple of Royer 121s.

Superb playing from everyone involved, Nordic Americana is a perfect way of putting it. Especially liked "Iceland," I've plopped it on my running playlist, thanks :)

Blown away by that Aladdin's Cave of vintage gear, all killer no filler!

Hi Michael,

FYI Amazon says the CD is available for pre-order and ships December 9 (I don't do iTunes or Amazon's even more useless mp3 service).

Is the following link a legitimate distribution/sales method? FLAC works for me but I don't want to buy if it's a pirate site (and will remove the link if that's the case.)

"I don't know why we asked him to join the band 'cause the rest of us don't like country music all that much; we just like Graham Lee."

A beautiful review from The Jazz Breakfast:

"... the Aadal band has succeeded – perhaps its that marvellous Norwegian sense of distance – in making something new and fresh from world-weary and much worked over base materials. Lovely stuff!"
- Peter Bacon

https://thejazzbreakfast.com/2016/09/17 ... up-pomona/

And a great review from Adam Baruch in Israel:
"The music is a unique amalgam of typical Scandinavian melancholy and Americana roots..."

This FINALLY became available to me on iTunes! It's really a fantastic album, Michael. You should be very proud. I think my favorite song is "Traces". The solos are really fantastic, and I love the final chords on the...Moog? I'm not sure what that keyboard is but it almost sounds like harmonizing saxophones played really softly? Anyway, just a beautiful collection, played tastefully, and recorded/produced in a way that's very organic and rich.

HUGE kudos from California! :-*
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Thank you so much Todd, really appreciate your kind words! I`m quite happy with how the album turned out.

On "Traces" we used one of the synths in the studio, a Roland Jupiter. Tried a bunch of different sounds, but ended up with that one.
And the guitar on that track is my old `62 strat :)
