Shelagh McDonald - Peacock Lady I just jumped on the reissue caravan for this absolutely amazing record from the final point of the great disappeared female folk singer triangle (Vashti and Anne Briggs being the other two points of wonder). My copy is a little like myself...feeling the years so hearing this was coming was a cause for celebration.

IMO she stands toe to toe or even toe over toe with Fairport and Fotheringay and I'd guess that fans of this pair and even Joni would love this album. Ive chosen more chamber folk tracks but there's some more classic folk rock on it too if you listen to the whole thing.

Cold Beat- Flat Earth elpee ain't out but REALLY looking forward to it and these two come with the preorder

The Imbeciles - Medicine (Legowelt remix) not really a patch on their previous single or the mighty Marina Abramovic sampling Broken English CLub remix but the Legowelt remix is great with it's GangoffourcabaretvoltairePiL tip.

I like the original of D.I.E too, it's kinda Sonic Pixies in some ways

Elisa Waut - Being Strong best known for the wave masterclass of Russia but the host album is wonderful and in possession of loping noir cool and in many ways more like a Flemish early Pink Industry (often with very Almond vocal phrasing) that yer usual lowland wave a la Nine Circles or whatever.

^ I just heard about Shelagh McD a few years back via Iain Anderson's article in Folk Roots, I think. Immersed myself in her oeuvre for a few days then moved onto whatever enthusiasm came next. What a life she's led, though; riches to rags is often more poignant than the reverse trajectory. Might have to track down the reissue(s).

Maserati - Wallwalker

Julian Cope - They were on Hard Drugs not new but I was recently asked what non vinyl song I'd like to see pressed on a seven inch for cynical landfill vinyl day and I guess this might well be it. Fucking genius really and absolutely a mixtape fixture for me in the last half a decade.

Borusiade - Lament a beautiful sad eyed record that flows seamlessly between sepulchral electro to sad eyed threnodies.

Electric Sewer Age - Self Doubting Trip I have some cynicism about Danny Hyde still trading as ESA after Sleazy's death but...I still bought this and it's a good record.

Cold Beat - Through this elpee is getting heavy play across all the home turntables, it's a full on family favourite and prime wave disko!

Jennifer Gentle - Obscuro to be honest much of the rest of this record is a bit 60's for me on first play but I love this very short track which reminds me of the wonderful 80's Swedish band Thirteen Moons.

Wrangler - Anthropocene I've been buying record with Stephen Mallinder on them since 1978...that's 42 years...seriously...fuck!

Agnes Obel - Camera's Rolling can't wait to see her do this elpee live in a month or so. As good a singer as exists.

Keith Seatman - Avoid Large Places curiouser and curiouser

Svitlana Nianio & Oleksandr Yurchenko - Untitled 6 really remarkable fairytale ethereal post punk dream folk or however you'd describe this.

Cate Le Bon - Home to You I'm well behind with this record but I really like this song with it's evocative Cinecittà pop swing.

Shelagh McDonald - Peacock Lady Scotlands best kept dream folk secret. You could have imagined this covered by TMC.

Algebra Suicide - An Explanation for That Flock of Crows IMO arguably the best couple of reissue compilations in recent years. Amazing band, unique, uniquely unsung and deliciously minimal. I only know them because I once saw a single and thought she looked cool enough for a blind buy.

Algebra Suicide - Proverbial Explanation For Why No Action Is Taken genius wordplay and one of those 'why didn't I think of that' moments.

Heaven - Truth or Dare Pop socks and pussybows. I loved her old band Cosmetics and I think I prefer Heaven over any recent Chromatics which is IMO dull as dishwater and totally drained of sass.

K7SS - Happy Feet a mighty track that came out in 1982 but sounds a decade newer,.

kinda evoking Two Lone Swordsmen (though not the motorik 'billy period below obviously)
