A few people have said that, but I don't really hear it. I mean, it's obvious when it was recorded owing to the production and style, but I think as a collection of and songs it still sounds excellent. Not like, say, The Cure, where some of the period instrumentations (usually the drum machines and synths) are so tacky I can't bear more than a minute of the songs. Even on the best Cure "hits" album, I only like about half the tracks partly because of this.

EDIT: Sounds, sounds, sounds, sounds. I replaced the repetitions of that word with synonyms or otherwise related link words as it was annoying me.

I think that's exactly why I enjoy listening to the live versions on Paris and Show so much more than the original album recordings... Those are timeless and amazing recordings.

Not an obvious one, but i'm a massive fan of Meshuggah. They do things with guitars sounds and time signatures that often just boggle the mind.

Even if you're not too into 'teh metalz' it's worth a listen just to hear the nuts sound that a super downtuned 8 string guitar can make.

cause you know, it's got "future breed machine" on it :w00t:

i was at a clinic with thomas haake and dick lövgren a few years ago (we played at this youth center thing, and they were the main attraction). some of the stuff they do is indeed completely mind boggling

Fuck yeah dude, I'm surprised it hasn't turned up yet. Polly's voice and songwriting was never finer than on that slice of magic. Opening the album with a song called "Big Exit" was a masterstroke.
