Pick your weirdest pedal
Annoying, broken, freaked out, over engineered, useless or plain awesome crazy - what is your weirdest pedal and why?

Re: Pick your weirdest pedal
Boss PC-2 percussion synth.
It's the most ridiculous thing you can imagine. It's only good for making those space disco "woo woo" sounds if you whack the pad, and it's only good for making horrendous weird trigger glitch craziness when you run a signal through it.
Probably not bad if you're a drummer who plays space disco. Otherwise, a train wreck.

A lot of people have a Whammy pedal but it is my weirdest pedal by far. You can get some of the craziest sounds from that thing.

Re: Pick your weirdest pedal
what's "weird" really?
I've had the FM4, Space Station, Gonkulator and a handful of other boxes
there's the Rainbow Machine, all the mid-fi stuff, co-pilot fx boxes, SYB-3/5

Re: Pick your weirdest pedal
i have a fuzz factory that doesnt always make crazy sounds. can we count that? i also have a 80's columbus distortion that when you even think of turning the tone past 12, it turns into a strange velcro style sound. some might say it's my modded belcat delay which has been modded to have extra range on the feedback knob and a button for self oscellation.

Re: Pick your weirdest pedal
I misread this as "which pedal dou think is the weirdest?"
Which would have been a short thread because 1 person would have said korg mikustomp and thread would b over.
But if you are asking what I actually own, id have to say some of the weird settings on my Roland GR20

What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

Re: Pick your weirdest pedal
Yes, you should actually own the pedal and have some sort of "personal relationship" to it, love, hate, despair, whatever. There are tons of weird pedals out there and it would be kind of annoying to try to agree on the one and only weirdest pedal. Let's just hear some funny stories. I was slightly drunk when I had the idea for this thread, so don't take it seriously.

I used to run an old analog boss DR into an oscillating DM-2... That got pretty ridiculous.
Unfortunately don't own anything weird right now but I'm looking at the ZVEX instant lofi.

Re: Pick your weirdest pedal
The box I get the most weird sounds out of is a Lovetone RingStinger. It's big and it's pink. Using the photocell expression control is a bit like a zVex Probe series and it also has an effects loop of sorts so you can put a fuzz or phaser in the middle instead of before or after. Daleks, Italian police sirens, etc, can all be conjured out of it. The more conventional sounds are excellent too, octave fuzz, tremolo and theremin actually get the most use.

Re: Pick your weirdest pedal
I honestly feel like if this was a competition, Megan would've won with the Percussion Synth. Hard to beat that kind of awesome weirdness.
For myself, I don't really have one weird pedal, but most are combinations and stacking of weird shit. The closest to weird that I own is a tie between my EQD Arpanoid and my Dr. Scientist BitQuest.
I was messing around yesterday with the BitQuest set to ring modulation and an echo, and got a sound close to a church bell. It was really awesome sounding.

Electro Harmonix has a competitive pedal for the space disco arena: the Space Drum! New or vintage.mackerelmint wrote:Boss PC-2 percussion synth.

Yeah, those seem to have a much more useful range of sounds than the Boss.

I couldn't actually find any demos of the Boss. I wouldn't mind getting one (or both) of the EHX one's, but I just wish I knew if I could control it via my Electro Faustus Drum Thing...mackerelmint wrote:Yeah, those seem to have a much more useful range of sounds than the Boss.

The drum thing is a piezo dealy with an output jack, right? Then yes.Shadoweclipse13 wrote:I couldn't actually find any demos of the Boss.
