Also, idk if you use your right or left foot for vol pedal, but moving the delay board to the right side means you'll pretty much have to use right foot
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

Re: Building a new pedalboard
All good points, I'm still deciding. I usually use right foot for expression type pedals, and I like it in the middle so it's not a huge stretch to reach anything else in the moment.FightingPlankton wrote:Also, idk if you use your right or left foot for vol pedal, but moving the delay board to the right side means you'll pretty much have to use right foot
I had it on the right side on the first board and I didn't like it too much.

Not to try and thread jack, just didn't see point in starting a new thread for 1 pic.
So, picked up this flight case for $3 at a yard sale. Added a riser and lights. Now I have a normal size board(as opposed to my 30 pedal board)
For the ultra observant, the tag does say $10, but I am a master of the ancient financial art of Jewjitsu and got it for $3

Re: Building a new pedalboard
Small update! I finally saved up and bought a box joint jig (which I will use to join the corners of the main frame of the pedalboard, among many other little non-guitar projects around the apartment) and it works great, but I realized that my stack dado set is too small (6"). So, I'm trying to sell that and already bought an 8" set from the same company (it DID cut really nicely). I also bought a small and cheap tapering jig for $25 which is kicking ASS so far.
Here's where I'm at right now; the culmination of a few new tools and tricks:
I was screwing around with the leftovers from the taper cuts and was feeling girlie... Maybe channeling a Geisha girl from a past life?

Is it weird I've always pictured you as that cartoon character and not an actual person?
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Re: Building a new pedalboard
My correct sized dado blade set came this morning and I got up and started working WAY earlier than usual for a weekend and here's where I'm at now: All edges have been box joint cut, but not yet glued. I think they are gonna look WAY classier than the first version of the board with so many less screws.

Re: Building a new pedalboard
Photobucket is being a dick tonight, but here's what I've got as of an hour ago. I have remade the end pieces like 3 times since my last posted pictures and I found a better and cleaner way of making them. Patience, learning, and decent tools. I'm getting better with my woodworking, but I've still got a LONG way to go to be where I want to be.
BUT, the gain board is assembled! I need two more holes in the end pieces before I can glue and start staining (2.1mm female DC power jack on the left side so I can power the delay board, and a hole for the IEC female jack that will be mounted on the right side board). All the little holes are for the screws, but I've drilled them a bit into the board with a Forstner bit, so that when I get done assembling it, I can use 3/8" oak plugs so you'll never see screws!
Assembled!
With plenty of space underneath!
Pedals added and with the shop foreman overlooking the work
From the left side. Finally decided that I’m just gonna add my guitar input jack on the left side of the delay board so I can still enjoy having the cable on my left, so these two big holes are the input and output for the main guitar signal to and from the gain board here.
From the right side. This solitary hole is for the input from my weird noise effects (photo theremin, etc.) and eventual slide guitar! The textured gray box at the far right of the top tier (closest to the camera in this shot) is my AB pedal which will switch between the guitar input on the left side of the board or the slider guitar input on the right side of the board. It could also work as a switch between two guitars if a buddy was hanging out. Bonus: if a friend was using the slide guitar input, it would be on their right side! It's the little things in life, isn't it?

Looks great man! Can't wait to see finished. You staining it or just lacquer?

Re: Building a new pedalboard
when i saw the update and mention of a v2.0 I thought oooo maybe it's going to be smaller and lighter! Then suddenly it's TWO boards!
Lovin the bottom row on the gain board, jam packed full of goodies. Also happy poptart stuck around, thought he got bored and cleared off after the first pic. xP

Stain and poly! Pretty will look just like the first (brown edges, black mounting boards).FightingPlankton wrote:Looks great man! Can't wait to see finished. You staining it or just lacquer?
Seriously! I realized when I'd finished the first one that all the pedal I had designed it around were gone and nothing fit, not to mention I knew I could build it better (and a little lighter too!), using less wood, etc.soggy mittens wrote:when i saw the update and mention of a v2.0 I thought oooo maybe it's going to be smaller and lighter! Part way through my designs of the 2.0, I was between doing a smaller board and my noise board for the funky sound effects, but every time I played I would use the noise and funky stuff a lot. I couldn't figure out a placement for them if I had made them as a separate noose board, as some pedals I have before or after other pedals, so I just decided to integrate everything into one linear chain, then split them into two boards, mostly for the weight and size...
Thanks man! I'm getting thereJaguar018 wrote:'mirin the wood skillz.

Nice work, Shadow. I wish I had your woodworking skills.
I like your pedals. You are pretty brand loyal, like me, but we have the inverse ratio of Earthquaker pedals to Catalinbread pedals! What does the blue Caroline pedal sound like?

Thanks man! It is a bit of brand loyalty, but beyond that, I just really like everything Earthquaker puts out. And I LOVE Catalinbread, but I dislike sidejacks, otherwise I'd have more of their stuff.Homeless Blueless wrote:Nice work, Shadow. I wish I had your woodworking skills.

The Caroline Olympia/Shigeharu is an awesome fuzz. I've heard it described as a blend between a muff and a fuzz face, and fuzz face and a tone bender. Here's my favorite, but not necessarily the best representation of it (I can't test that since I don't have a 5 watts or less amp that I can crank):

I bought it to replace a muff clone and a fuzz face clone and it just kills. Easily the coolest fuzz I've yet had.
