Re: Building a new pedalboard
Thanks Shadow.
I have a Caroline Wave Cannon (distortion), it is a strange beast. I would describe it as the least "transparent" dirt pedal that I own. It's like the Ying to the Crowther Hotcake Yang. I can't get the Wave Cannon to sound good on its own (it's me, not the pedal) but it is absolutely brilliant when stacked after other dirt pedals, it incredibly beefs up the sound.
I have an Earthquaker Dispatch Master (delay + reverb), which is great fun. I love their creativity and would like to try some of their other pedals, especially the Gray Channel.
I have somehow managed to avoid getting a muff pedal so far, but I do own a strat these days (the other great nonsensical music taboo broken), so who knows what could happen..

I've actually been looking at both of those for a bass board.Homeless Blueless wrote:I have an Earthquaker Dispatch Master (delay + reverb), which is great fun. I love their creativity and would like to try some of their other pedals, especially the Gray Channel.
I'm sure some people think that, but I don't. I honestly don't usually get along with muffs. I LOVE the sound, but most models that don't have a mids-switch cut through SO badly that I just can't do it. I honestly prefer fuzz to muff, but that's just me.Homeless Blueless wrote:I have somehow managed to avoid getting a muff pedal so far, but I do own a strat these days (the other great nonsensical music taboo broken), so who knows what could happen..

Me too. I will have to check out this Caroline Olympia/Shigeharu, not that I need any more pedals..Shadoweclipse13 wrote:I honestly don't usually get along with muffs. Re: Building a new pedalboard
Small updates:
I finally figured out how I'm gonna send the power cable from the gain board (with the power supply base) to the delay board and found these at my local and awesome electronics store:
2.1mm feed through jacks!! I figured out a funky way of drilling and countersinking to mount it RIGHT to the side of the boards (left side of gain, and right side of delay) and they fit TIGHT:
I also drilled the holes for the IEC jack on the right side of the gain board, but still need to sand/file down that hole before I can mount the jack. Biggest news today is that I got the delay board mostly figured out. Aside from sanding all around, I just need a couple small boards cut to a proper length tomorrow (today technically) and then I'm looking really good. I should be able to start gluing and staining Monday at the latest I'm thinking. Here's where I'm at as of right now:

Re: Building a new pedalboard
Tiny update... I ordered 2 sets of amp handles from Peavey as I love the look of the classic style handles on my Delta Blues. Leather or fake leather grips, and nice chrome end caps. Two sets of handles and end caps under $20 shipped. Hell yes!

Re: Building a new pedalboard
Gain board sanded and stained! It literally took 6.5 hours to get those frakking corners sanded down. Lesson for next time: don't cut as deep into the box joint corners.
Here's the eye candy:
Next up: sanding and staining the delay board, drilling the horizontal boards for the pedal mounting, then staining them with Speedball Black India Ink. Stay tuned!

Re: Building a new pedalboard
I check the "you and your offsets" and "you and your non-offsets" every now and again for that reason. I like the context of knowing what people really look like behind their avatar. It also messes with your mind more I think if your avatar is a character/person that's not you, since it would be hard to imagine someone as a person-sized, walking guitar or pedal, you know?parry wrote:This was completely shocking to me as well!Shadoweclipse13 wrote:Right?!? Not many! I dabble in voice impersonations too and he's one I can do, so it's a lot of fun

Small update! Gain board clear coat done and cleaned up with steel wool. All the jacks and parts mounted and tightened!
Next up for gain board: horizontal boards need to be drilled for pedal mounting, then stained with the India Ink. Stay tuned!
