I generally run fuzz pedals after drives, but as we all know, some fuzzes like to see a dirty amp (FF in particular). While subtle, the barbershop works great by adding just that little bit of hair....StevenO wrote:Its a subtle pedal and I use it as a half way point between clean guitar and slightly dirty.
Like this, fuzz pedals sound fantastic running into the Barbershop. Sounds fantastic with bass as well!

This.
It's nice to be important, but it's important to be nice.

Re: Fairfield Curcuitry Megathread
Hard to say since everyone has his/her standards as to an ideal sound, but my sense is that the Accountant favors a grittier vibe. I wouldn't quite go as far to describe it as "lo-fi," but to my ear it's not a transparent compressor. (Which I'm totally on board with.)Shadoweclipse13 wrote:...I don't really dig the extra grit and brightness...
Just to be clear, I'm not bashing on Fairfield. Beyond the problem I mentioned above, I like the assertiveness and idiosyncrasies of the Accountant's sound. I just drew a short straw on getting a unit with a problem, I'm guessing. Encouraging to hear of others' great experience with FC's customer service.
Had wondered if anyone else encountered the same problem I did—but it sounds as though not.

I can't comment on the rest, but I'm a big fan of my Four Eyes Fuzz.

Has anyone checked out the Shallow Water yet?? I'm really interested in the Chase Bliss Warped Vinyl mkii, and this seems to be in that neighborhood.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

saw this morning.
torn b/w it, the Zvex Junky, or the Generation Loss.
after hearing the GL's switch "pops" more than every now and then i'm interested in the SW & the Junky.

FWIW, I had the Junky and sold it pretty quickly. The effect was too 'digital' and predictable for my taste, and it was fairly noisy IIRC. These two pedals are cool because they seem more random and unpredictable.

very happy to hear you say that.
frees me of giving money to ZVex.
anyway, just pulled the trigger on a used Meet Maude.
might have to go with the Shallow Water to complete my warble weirdness, but FF says it'll prob be around late June shipping-wise.
