I also have a large collection of 90s Russian Muffs (and Small Stones). I'll take a pic soon and add it to the thread
I'm quite intrigued by this and would like to know more. Do you have a newsletter I can subscribe to or anything?

I am a language nerd... it's a side effect of the acute case of wanderlust I have. Non-Latin alphabets intrigue me. I have had a long standing interest in some of the more obscure ones (to Westerners), such as Ge'ez, Armenian, Khmer, Tibetan, Sanskrit, and of course Georgian. I used Georgian on the pedal simply because, of all of the alphabets I am familiar with, I find it to be the most aesthetically pleasing ;) The transliteration of the text on the pedal reads (approximately) "Fabi Hubi".... ie, it's just gibberish.

I taught myself to read the Cyrillic Alphabet when I was about 12 during school holidays. I just learnt how to transliterate it, I don't speak or read any of the languages which use it.
I also taught myself to read Arabic Script before travelling to the Middle East about ten years ago, something I am thankful for making myself do as it was increadibly useful (even though I don't actually speak Arabic or Farsi).
When travelling I usually write a diary in English and French (occasionally German too), but using a mix of Cyrillic, Arabic and heavily modified Latin scripts. It would be a nightmare for the casual reader to decipher ;D

Ummm... what do you want to know more about? I'm happy to divulge, just not sure what you mean?...

The pedal is nothing fancy. Anyone, even beginners, can build a BYOC pedal... it's pretty easy. Painting pedals is relatively easy too. I just use rattle cans. I think I only did 5 layers on this one (Metal primer, 2x Red, 2x clear coat) but it seems to be holding up very well. The decal (which was made for me by fellow forumite HNB) was applied before the clear coats. Easy :)

My Russian Big Muffs:

I love these things. They are just so clunky and awesomely inconvenient 8)
Although similar, each individual one has its own "flavour" (some are hotter, some are bitier, some are smoother).
I primrarily use them with bass as they give you a great growly tone without killing your low end.

I'm also a language geek and I also write in a my diary in a non english script. It's a script I invented actually, which borrows heavily from the style of the georgian alphabet. I've always been fond of it as well. I've also altered Cyrillic for english use. Someday my family will be left with all these diaries of mine and nobody will have the first clue how to decrypt it. Especially anything that's written in my alphabet.
Anyhow .. thread derail! :P

In high school, one of my best friends and I both learned the runes used in The Hobbit and would write back and forth during math class in runes so teh teacher wouldn't have any idea what we were saying, but she never said a word to us all year.

This thing is just rad, period.

I haven't had any muff in 3-4 years. It's a possibility I'd give one another go, but I don't expect one to permanently land on my board.
