It's nice to be important, but it's important to be nice.

That Foxy Lady is one Foxy Lady- I think I might have to steal that design theme for something.

It's a beauty isn't it! John Lyons is such a good builder, it's as well designed on the inside as it is outside. The gallery on the Basic Audio website has so many sweet designs.noisepunk wrote:That Foxy Lady is one Foxy Lady- I think I might have to steal that design theme for something.

Damn, I'm a bit late to this party...
Here's my take on the Pharaoh... built in an old Telefunken Power Supply enclosure I bought at a thrift store for 2€ or so.
The knobs are Vol, Fuzz, Tone and Highs ... switches are input sensitivity (=Hi/Lo Fuzz) and Ge-Si Diode Clipping.
This baby sounds awesome and is getting new bigger knobs soon!

Re: show me your muff
Left to right: v3, Civil War, Ram's Head Large Beaver (I know it doesn't count yet), and Nano BMP
Got the v3 and the Civil War (and a nice 2'x3' velvet painting of dogs playing pool) for my effort cleaning out a storage room at a studio I used to work at in the mid 90's. The v3 is the highest gain and craziest muff I've checked out but not all that conducive to power chords, awesome for meltdown leads and noise freakouts though. The Civil War is nicer as a general purpose fuzz, lower gain w/ significantly less mid scoop and a bit more bottom. It's the mellowest overall of what I've checked out Muff-wise. I haven't been using either of these very much lately because they just take up too much damn real estate.
A gutshot of the Civil War (thought I had one of the v3 too but apparently not):
The Nano is probably the most all purpose Muff of them for me, in the same neighborhood as the Civil War gain-wise but not quite as smooth. It's got the least mojo/specialness but still does the job pretty darn well for the price and size.
No idea what the Large Beaver will sound like in my setup, but I haven't heard a demo I didn't like. It's queued up behind a couple other pedal projects right now and w/ the way work's been going it maybe several more months before I get around to it.
