EKO Multitone! Now with pictures.....
So, some of you may have read about the Southern Jumbo quandry I've been in.
I basically pulled out before I handed 2 of my guitars + a nice vintage pedal over to a guy on Denmark Street.
Then came this!!! I'm a bit of a fan of the Vox Ultrasonic & had always wished that the effects were easier to switch on & off.
I was made aware quite some time ago that it was possible....with one of these!!
Expensive but hopefully so, so worth it!!

That's a fantastic looking guitar; hope the pedal works out.

Re: Am I sick?? Impulse buy no. 1.....
It turns out the guy, in Italy, found 5 brand new ones in an old warehouse. I was getting worried to begin with as 2 have already passed me by with identical ads.
I thought it might be a scam but he seemed to be buying & selling lots of guitar stuff so I went for it.
There's very little info out there on these pedals. Someone posted an awful YouTube clip here.
Other than that, there's Harmony Central & a couple of gear sites. Varied reviews but mostly of old, beaten up models. This one is NOS.
Hopefully the warehouse was solid & dry. Judging from the pictures it's mint. Rust-free & squeaky-clean.

I'm glad there are a lot of guitar players pursuing technique as diligently as they possibly can, it leaves this whole other area open to people like me.

What a stroke of luck to find one of those. It's amazing how much NOS Eko stuff is still floating around, though.
Is it designed to work specifically with your Eko/Vox semi or can you use it with any guitar? And what does the 'Strepitoso' switch do? Make it sound throaty?

HOLY SHIT! Mark, that's awesome! I'd completely forgotten these existed - to find one (five ) in that condition is fantastic. Not a ridiculous price either.

Does this mean if I want sweet retro pedals, I need to start poking around old warehouses?

Re: Am I sick?? Impulse buy no. 1.....
The first one went up maybe 3-4 months back. It sold for £400 to a guy in Japan. Fancy that.
The second actually went for £30 less than the one I got. To be honest I think the only reason I got it for less than £350 was because the auction ended at 10pm, a slightly anti-social hour. There were plenty of bidders & someone was obviously watching it in the dying seconds as the cost jumped from £255 to £310 in seconds. I just swallowed hard & bid £350. I got it for £315.
UlricvonCatalyst, you're right. Roberto Brandoni (at Brandoni guitars) says there are stacks of warehouses full of old Eko stock. He owns the lot but can't feasibly bring it all over to Wembley. God knows what other goodies there are. The Vox Ultrasonic neck I got was rare as hens teeth but there's probably another 20 back in Italy.
I don't care about the money! I've wanted one of these for so long. I've been in contact with the guy who bought the second one. He's French & apparently knows a thing or 2 about Vox/Eko stuff (not that being French should make a difference). Apparently the Wah is awesome, pretty much a stock 60's Vox Wah. This means I can sell my Vox re-issue & get some money back. Once I've sold my MXR Analog Delay (which I never intended to keep this long) this thing will really only have cost me £150. Great money for a pedal in this condition.
Strepitoso? I forgot to ask. One website suggested it's for the wah. Another reckons it's for distortion but there's already a separate wheel for that. I'm pretty excited to find out exactly what it does myself!
The seller has given me a tracking number. More info next week!

I just emailed the French guy about the "Strepitoso". Curiosity has got the better of me.Superfuzz wrote:I'm curious to hear what the strepitoso switch is...you can translate it as "awesome"..
Another thing I know is that the Distortion/Fuzz isn't controlled by a wheel (apparently) even though there's a wheel that says Distortion on it?! All very confusing.
Instead I'm told the wheel is more of a Volume dial, even though there's a separate Volume wheel too!
This must make the circuit different to the one on my Ultrasonic where you can control the intensity of the boost, repeater and distortion with dials.
All very intriguing.

Ah, so it's essentially the same as the FX section of your Ultrasonic in a box? Can't the Strepitoso conundrum be solved by a process of elimination then?PorkyPrimeCut wrote: This must make the circuit different to the one on my Ultrasonic where you can control the intensity of the boost, repeater and distortion with dials.
Strepitoso as a musical term means 'boisterous'; could it be the booster section?
