true bypass loop
for some time now, i´ve been thinking of getting a bypass looper. i just looked at robert keeley´s loopers, but they seem a bit expensive to me. would it be difficult to make one? all you need is a switch, four jacks, some cable and a box, right?

Re: true bypass loop
Yeah, I think the main thing is getting the right switch .. a DPDT or something .. better check that, don't take my word for it!
But why stop at four jacks .. make some crazy multi-loop monster ..

Re: true bypass loop
I'll need a looper sometime .. I'm thinking four loops with the first two alternating with each other, plus a tuner out and maybe the last loop as a feedback loop if I can figure out how to do that.
I'm sure it'll be cheaper and a lot more fun than just buying one.

Re: true bypass loop
I need one myself
Loop Master have great prices and a big selection of bypass loop pedals, I'll probably get the double looper..

Re: true bypass loop
They are super easy to make guys, I have made several A/B/Y pedals, and they aren't hard or terribly expensive. the most expensive thing is the case then the DPDT switches. Cost will be determined by How many pedal loops you are going to want, do you want LEDs, etc. If you want LEDS you'll need a different switch. Basic case is 10 bucks, and each switch is about $4 (DPDT) to $5 (3PDT you need these if you want LED).
I think the last ABY switch I made cost me about 25-30 dollars to make, including paint. I ordered a lot of stuff from Pedalpartsplus.com and smallbearelec.com
If you want help let me know, I might have the looper schematic around here, and I definitely have the aby schematics (wouldn't be hard to expand it into the looper), and I have a few extra parts like rubber feet and stuff.

Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

Here is the schematic I used for the Passive ABY with LEDs

Re: true bypass loop
Here is the first ABY I did and I will contact my friends to get pics of the others.
I let my firend try to paint flames on it and it looked stupid when he got done with it but oh well

Re: true bypass loop
yeah, i asked on another thread how to build a 3 loop bypass pedal and didn't get much help. i was going for LEDs and a boss style power jack.
too bad dave boggs' hands aren't in shape enough to keep building. his loopers were the best looking, somewhat affordable, and highly customizable.

I like the look of that - maybe not the flames so much as you say, but the handwriting over the sparkly finish, looks very zvex.pullover wrote: Here is the first ABY I did

Re: true bypass loop
here´s something funny; i looked around for local sources for the parts needed to make a basic no-LED single looper, and it turns out i would have to spend more money on the parts alone than on a loop-master (including shipping to sweden).
edit: aha! i just noticed you can buy parts-kits from loop master! YAY!

Re: true bypass loop
jonas,
I strongly recommend a WOBO TB Looper. I have one bypassing my whole board and it rules. Great for cutting everything out and getting that "straight into the amp" sound.
