Australia is in Europe now?
It's good to see it wasn't a mockup. If I wasn't broke I'd probably get one of these.

Ha, that probably means they'll hit the UK next year then! I'd like to try one, see how it goes...

Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo
ok, so curiosity got the best of me.
i stopped by GC this afternoon and bought the thing.
i played with it for 15 min in the store and it sounded ok, but it was loud in there, so i took it home for a better evaluation. i played it for about 4 hours this evening.
my opinion is that the sound quality is not great.
the "reverb only" and 1-4 "repeat" settings are good, you can get some cool warp-delay sounds by changing settings while notes decay, and by tweaking the repeat rate and intensity knobs, and holding down the right pedal triggers a delay swell, like turning the repeat rate knob does.
the "reverb echo" settings 5-11 are really lacking, imo. the manual describes how the sound is suppose to mimic the slightly-metallic, warbly sound of recording to tape, but to my ears, it sounds VERY digital - like a cheesy chorus effect.
i own the akai headrush and i think it does a much better straight up tape echo sound. the headrush is not capable of the cool warpy-kind of shit you can do with the RE-20, but that doesn't justify $250 to me.
this thing is getting returned.

A local music store is going to be selling them for 200 euro's, but they haven't arrived yet. I wanted to compare it to my Headrush (E1) too.brunning wrote: ok, so curiosity got the best of me.

thanks for your review, that was very helpful.
I think I may buy a delay pedal for weird shit the Headrush can't do, but the RE-20 is not a candidate.

Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo
I have one, like it so far, I don't have any analog/tape delays to compare to though... I'll record some sound clips soon.
About the oscillation, it's decent but not very versatile.

Times change. Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky? Now it grows hair! We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

Another +1 on this - I'm a confirmed Boss fan, and I like getting noises out of them that most people don't.echobaseone wrote: I'm quite interested in this pedal too.
While I realize that Boss are the Budweiser of pedals, I've got a sh*tload of them and I think the trick is in making them NOT sound like the pedal that everyone owns. It is possible, you know...

I read that and iwent to my board, and tried my hardest, but after hours of experimentation I have been unable to squeeze any new tones out of my tuner. DAMN!
I prefer their older stuff.

I'm skeptical of this one. I mean…this was probably a great marketing decision on their part, but…
I don't know…I just smell hype.
Don't take the name and and cosmetics too seriously.
I'd say try and compare it with others you know and like or other ones you might be thinking of.
