Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo
this is brilliant! i predict one of these will replace my DMM when the time comes... if they do sound even remotely like the original space echo, that is.

Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo

Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo
I've been wanting one since they first got announced at Musikmesse back in March or whenever! They're supposed to come out this month, I can't wait. I know it won't sound exactly like a Space Echo, but the original is so expensive to own/maintain.

More info should come out in the next few weeks. You could give roland a call if you need to know more than that. Be sure to share what you find out with us if you dotremolite wrote: Anyone heard anything new about this?

Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo
i was sent to roland hq for sales training when i used to work for a music store. i got drunk at a fancy dinner and started yelling
at the suits in charge of marketing.
quite embarrassing but i still stand by my drunken rant. (for the most part):
i'm SOO tired of the same old effects. flange chorus distortion echo blah blah blah...we're still cloning the effects jimi used in 1969!
THIS IS THE YEAR 2007! get those inventor guys working on something new! i'm talking psychoacoustic resonators, granilar
synthesis that's actually useable!, synth pedals that can track flawlessly, a box that translates guitar notes into drum sounds... hell
hire me i'll give you something to work on! i'm full of stupid ideas... or at least the drunken version of me is!?
although the other side of the drunken rant was an extended mantra on the coolness of custom colored synths... all i remember
clearly about that night was me slurring into some japanese guys ear "you gotta mmmake a pink keyboard mannnn...ccoomee on
man... be cool...i'm SOO tired of black keyboards..."
i'm just saying you can't expect to keep changing the music world by playing it safe...be brave and stupid! and make a goddamn
pink keyboard man!

Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo
The thing is Boss is about familiar sounds and reliablity. There is a reason a Boss pedal costs $100 and a Zvex cost 3x that. Colored synths would be cool tho, I mean the're plastic! How hard could it be?

Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo
That's exactly why I only have 2 Boss pedals, and they're for super generic things. One's the SD-1 for overdrive stuff (which I actually like quite a bit), the other is there Line Selector pedal. If I want to get out there, effects-wise, I always go for EHX or some of the smaller pedal makers.JazzBlaster wrote: The thing is Boss is about familiar sounds and reliablity. +1 I don't own any Boss pedals, I am not looking for the tried and true sounds, I want sonic adventures when I pick up my guitar!hound of winter wrote: That's exactly why I only have 2 Boss pedals, and they're for super generic things. Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo
I'm quite interested in this pedal too.
While I realize that Boss are the Budweiser of pedals, I've got a sh*tload of them and I think the trick is in making them NOT sound like the pedal that everyone owns. It is possible, you know...

Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo
hahaha! living in St. Louis you have no idea how "true" (pun intended) that statement rings. My LISO's father is an exec @ AB in marketing so i hear about Bud a lot. but yeah, boss as the Anheiser Busch of pedals is an awesome analogy!echobaseone wrote: I'm quite interested in this pedal too.

Re: Roland/Boss RE-20 Space Echo
I don't think it's happening. No new info has come around for months, and it's supposedly coming out by the end of this month?
Don't you know that's sinful boy?

Yeah, they have actually been rumored to release this for a while now. It's constantly pushed back.
