NPD: 80s Nady (Guyatone) TD-1 (REAL) tube distortion!

Post by Pacafeliz » Mon Aug 24, 2009 2:13 pm

and oh WOW WOW people this thing is UN BE LIEV A BLE

i think it's pretty much what you'd call New Old Stock, cuz it's in its original box with manual, and the pedal hasn't got a scratch on it.
the 12ax7 in there is in fact a GT ECC83, so i think that one's been changed (i've read the stock tubes were quite crappy).

this thing is pure HEAVEN i tell you. for anyone who've wanted a transparent warm overdrive/distortion... well... there's nothing like the sound of a REAL tube!
(btw this is the original old MIJ edition from the 80s, made by guyatone).

put it around 9:00 and it's the most "transparent" natural and oh so delicious overdrive. you can play around with the pick attack to get more drive. at 12:00 it's about as much as a crunchy TS9 or SD1. on full it's ...well not quite a DS1 or so.. but well, classic dimed stack overdrive/distortion sound. not too much, just RIGHT.

damn this is quite a rare find, but it was definitely the best buy of the year, effect-wise anyway.
i also got an old battered Ibanez Fat Cat (10-series sorta RAT ripoff) but i will get to that one later...
i love this tube box. it's all i ever wanted/needed, overdrive-wise. DANG! :w00t:

Old thread, I know, but I did a search for this pedal, because I just got one myself. Bought it because I learned that it's the distortion Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3 used for the Sound of Confusion album. So it seemed like a no-brainer for me getting one asap ;-)

Now i'm just waiting for the mail man to show up with it

Are you still as happy with yours, Pat, or is the honeymoon over?
