the original Marshall Guv'nor
I have a chance to get one of these pretty cheap. My interested was piqued after I saw that Kevin Shields used two of them in one of his various live setups. Does anyone have any experience with this thing? What capabilities does it have?

Re: the original Marshall Guv'nor
I have one, it's an interesting pedal. It has a very crunchy early eighties marshall tone to it. You can definately here the sound of it on Isn't Anything. It also reminds me of some of the guitar tones that the band Mission of Burma gets. On the downside, I found the Guv'nor tone controls very difficult to dial in, especially the midrange. It seemed to me to either be too scooped and fizzy, or to honky and nasally. If anyone has any suggested settings I would certainly be interested in hearing them.

I have a new one and also a Marshall Jackhamer which I think is better.

I've heard good things about them. I bought a Drivemaster a couple months back & I'm well impressed with it, does everything from a nice OD through to full on Metal (if you want). Also has bass/mid/treble controls... how many pedals have that these days? plus it was cheap at £20, I use it as a boost alongside my TS9. If you can get one cheap its got to be worth trying out, you wont loose any cash if you sell it on.

I owned one years ago (for exactly three hours) and it is one
of the most horrible things I ever ran across.
Totally 80's.

I Also owned on in the 90ties (I think) cool stomp box, back then....I don't think I would use it these days.
As said before a typically Marshall 80ties sound. I found it to blurry with the Celesetions I used back then.
Cool for some fast chord work though and letting some notes ring out. but to much mid chrunch withouth any defenition.
