I finished putting this one together earlier last month as my bass practice/low volume jams rig when paired up w/ a cab:
Image
bass > MXR Studio Compressor > TC PolyTune 2 Noir > Pigtronix Keymaster [ loop A {Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop Millennium > Zvex Germanium Woolly Mammoth > Aguilar Tone Hammer} in series or crossfaded in parallel via expression pedal w/ loop B {EQD The Depths > Aguilar Chorusaurus > MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe > MXR Six Band EQ}] > Quilter Interblock 45 loop return > cab (sounds great into my Eden EX112)
This is sweet Sid!! Couple of questions:
1) How does the Quilter Interblock 45 sound with bass?
2) Does is only work for low volume (i.e. Interblock 45 being a low volume output)?

Also, please tell me that Pigtronix makes a Gatekeeper to go along with the Keymaster :D ;D

I'm really liking it for bass w/ a pre plugged into the loop return.

I've mostly used it plugged into 8 ohms so it's operating at 33 watts. That seems to get me right to the edge of earplug range through that Eden 1x12 for bass. I dunno if it would provide enough stage volume for bass w/ a loud drummer and/or guitar player (s). You can the line out to a board and through FoH and monitors to supplement the speaker out though. It seems to have plenty of volume for guitar, seems to match a Deluxe Reverb w/ the added benefit of staying clean all the way to Max if you have the gain dialed back and sounds and feels pretty good doing it too.

I've thought the same thing re: the gatekeeper, not sure if I've seen one from them named as such though. Definitely a missed opportunity if there isn't 😋

Very interesting. I've been quite interested in the Interblock for a while now. Technically I'm covered, as my bass amp has a line output for front-of-house and I've also got the Q\Strip, but I keep hearing such good things about Quilter stuff.

I haven't changed my setup in about a year and a half.

Current state of my secondary board. I got tired of the huge height difference between the Archer and boost and I had some Amazon credit so I bought a bigass purple button that came in a comically large box.

Swap the position of the RV-6 and PN-2, and change the ascend to a Rat, and you have my old board.

Thanks! It's funny, I've had so much stuff come and got, but 90% of what I use now is stuff that I have owned for about a decade and a half :D Of course, I have bought and sold some of the same things several times in between. I have had so many reverbs but I have always come back to the trust old RV-2. If it weren't so damn noisy I would be okay with that.

I like this version a good bit, though I'll probably tinker with it some more. I don't tend to mess around with my volume knob much, so I like being able to stage the dirt incrementally. The setup covers a pretty good range of sounds and is fun to experiment with, especially through a looper. The Rm-1n takes up a lot of space though, and I really liked the way the Muff and reverb worked together on a Loomer I was messing around with, so I've been playing around with the idea of subbing in something like another Meteore or a Matthews Cosmonaut and maybe an ARC Shepherd there. Maybe. I also don't know if I get enough use out of the loop pedal when playing with the band to justify keeping it.

Gavanti, that's a really nice setup. Did you mod the Soothsayer to have footswitchable high and low gain modes? Noticed the second switch.

Thanks! I need to get around to cleaning up the wiring. You’re right about the Soothsayer —the right switch controls the gain mode. I had picked one up used and liked it so much that I put in a custom shop order with Aaron. Apparently, it’s the first one he’s done that way with the footswitch, which surprised me because it’s an intuitive mod and definitely expands the pedal’s utility.

I'm almost tempted to see if I can send mine in to be modded that way. That's pretty sweet.

I only recently got a Soothsayer, and agree than an external gain mode switch would be a huge advantage. I use both modes equally, and don't have a favourite. Even an external toggle would be fine with me.

Cheers

Yeah, it's definitely a good thing. There is a bit of a volume jump with the added gain, which can be disconcerting with low volumes at home, but which works well when playing with the band.
