Re: MXR Carbon Copy - LOVE
Can't say about the comparison to the DMM, but I always have mine on...
It is subtle, and it's nice...
After playing with it on, you can totally tell when it's off - that's for sure...

Re: MXR Carbon Copy - LOVE
yeah the modulation effect differs from the DMM.
On the DMM you can set it to get vibrato/chorus
effect which is separate from the actual delays..
on the MXR the mod switch is a button that when
engaged w/ the pedal on -- it basically slightly detunes
the delays only; and it's there's no way to control the intensity
of the vibrato effect; it's pretty much a preset rate. but it's
not much a big deal to me.. as I wouldn't use the VIB effect
on the DMM much anyway -- but for someone else might be factor.

Re: MXR Carbon Copy - LOVE
Actually, you can control them - can't you?
Isn't that what the two trimpots on the inside are for?
To control the rate/depth of the modulation?
Hang on...
Yep!
From the site; "In addition, two internal trim pots offer user-adjustable width and rate control of the modulation for even more tonal options."
Haven't tweaked mine yet, but I just may

When you get inside, there's a big, cardboard protective thingie over the board, with two holes cut in it and labeled...
Kinda neat...

Yeah I knew you could control the modulation, I just dont know to what degree. With the DMM you can get some pretty intense "flutter." I'm just wondering if you can get that extreme with the CC. It doesn't sound like it. Once I decide to get a delay, I'll probably just go with the CC. I've never been a huge delay fan, so I'd rather get something small and that doesn't cost $300. The DMM is awesome, but I think I'll be plenty happy with a CC.
Anybody know the mA on the CC?

Dude... my thoughts EXACTLY, when I bought mine...jgs61 wrote: Once I decide to get a delay, I'll probably just go with the CC. I've never been a huge delay fan, so I'd rather get something small and that doesn't cost $300. The DMM is awesome, but I think I'll be plenty happy with a CC.
EXACTLY, EXACTLY, EXACTLY.
My CC has done nothing but surprise and make me happy.
That pedal is, and will be a constant on my board.
Not sure what kind of music you're making - but wait till you start messing around with the self-oscillation.
Some VERY cool stuff there...
That stuff NEVER gets boring...

Re: MXR Carbon Copy - LOVE
Cool. I've only ever owned two delay pedals... a RE-20 I bought during the summer that I had about a week before I returned it, and a long time ago I had one of those pinkish purple BOSS analog delays (DM-2???). The BOSS was pretty sweet but for some reason I sold it. Now they're like $250.hansonparry wrote:Dude... my thoughts EXACTLY, when I bought mine...jgs61 wrote: Once I decide to get a delay, I'll probably just go with the CC. I'm not a noise maker but I always loved playing with the self oscillation on that BOSS. I'll be using it for some slap-back and to add some depth to leads. I'm not really jumping out of my seat to get a delay right now, but once I'm ready, I think the CC will do the trick nicely.

Re: MXR Carbon Copy - LOVE
Yep, I do have 'em both. Overall, I prefer the DMM. The repeats seem more smooth and warm, and I like the easily adjustable modulation. That aside, the CC is an amazing pedal. At half the price of a DMM, and 25% the size, it's a keeper for sure! I do really love it, but I prefer the DMM for the most part. I took the CC to Nashville, and I found myself missing the Memory Man.hansonparry wrote:I've always wondered about a side-by-side as well...Haddock wrote: Has anyone owned this and a EHX DMM ? How do they compare ?
Pretty sure Nolan has both...
Having had an RV3 that I never used, I just can't get over the warmth of the repeats on the Carbon Copy...
For $150... soooooooo good...
I usually keep the CC set for a slap-back type delay, which sounds great.
Damn kids, get off my lawn!

Re: MXR Carbon Copy - LOVE
They've downsized the new DMM's, huh?
(mags uploaded the pic somewhere... can't seem to find it atm :-\)
Which is cool... I kinda like the size of the new EHx boxes...
my GermaniumOD is in one of those, and it seems good.
Not too big, not too small...
