BOss PS-2 Digital Pitch Shifter/Delay!

Post by CLETUStheFETUS » Sat Dec 30, 2006 8:53 am

Does anyone own one of these or have played one before? I visited this increidble vintage store in Orlando and the guy kept raving about this pedal and I plugged it in and jammed it for awhile. The sound from it is insane, it was able to get some of these spacey weird noises I have heard in a long time with ease. the guy told me that they disconintued the pedal because it was so weird. It also seemed to have the same delay setup as the DD-3 (which I normally use) plus lots of extra features. The pitch shifter with delay used together was able to make strange sounds ranging from Gorgonite spaceship crashing to church bell organs. At times it seemed too weird and probaly not usuable but with a signal/effects mix you can mix it down a little and add the weird sounds to your leads or chords or whatever. Very strange hard to find pedal but seems to be a must have for all the noise junkies here!

Oh yea while I am thinking about it.... (kinda off topic) How much better is the Boss DM-3 with the analog delay than the digital delay DDs? Can anyone describe the difference in sound between the analog and digital. I love the memory man analog sound, but im not sure if the memory man sounds liek your average analog delay.

it depends on what your delay needs are....the DM3 would be better than the DD3 if you wanted more organic, darker, warmer delays

the DD3 would be better than the DM3 if you wanted longer delay times, precise delays etc.

I've compared the DM3 (I used to own one - sold it in favour of a Maxon AD900) and the DD3, and I liked the DM3 beetter because of the nicer sound...it felt more musical...the suble imperfections of the repeats are so nice.

the DD3 was stronger sounding...like the delays were hammered in with a...errr....hammer...  :-[

I'm kinda biased on this because I like analog delays more....digital ones have their uses too though...it's all down to what you need.... wouldn't say one is better than the other

depends on the situation

I really want to get an analog delay as they are the best noise makers and can give you that naturally wonderful decaying resonance that you cant get out of a digital. An echoczar, too expensive, a memory man, too confusing to use live, but the DM-3 seems to fit somewhere in between price, functionaly, tone, and simplicity. Give me give me.

I would die without my line 6 delay modeler the reverse delay swell and dynamic delays are the best. the reverse leads on the song Tachistoscope are real time. the dynamic delay is awesome it swells up the harder you hit your strings like a natural echo. I don't mind digital fx though I will use any pedal if I can get a crazy sound from it.

The ps-2 is the best delay pedal for straight up noise and crazy oscilations.

I still say the DL-4 with expression pedal owns 6 different delay settings on the fly no patches to flip through the reverse and swell are amazing
