Can anybody on here give me more infos about that sweet delay machine?
If my infos are right, it shall be from around ´79 and is the first "modulation" EHX MM.

So cool! I have a 78 or 79 DMM but the standard black and red colors. It sounds incredible. Yes without looking at any research I believe these are some of the earliest ones.

I'd be curious if your's has a different chipset vs. the usual MN3005s. I thought I read some of the early had the earlier SAD chips.

Though, even with the same chips, DMMs can all sound different.

Congratulations! It looks in good nick.

I had a standard 3 knob Memoryman years ago. It’s the only one I have seen in person with the blue paint. I didn’t realize it was rare at the time. I prefer my DMM though, because I need that modulation.

I never opened up my old Blue one, but since then I have heard the chips were different.

Huh, never knew the blue ones were rare. I used To use one too.

i have tryed it out and i need to say, that it works perfectly.
It feels kind of "harsh/heavy", because the level boost kind of cranks the signal.
Sounds wonderful!

Compared to an 90s reissue 5 knob DMM and 90s reissue stereo MM, it is alot more dirty and has some magic behind it.

@shoule79: it seems to be rare, because 1) it is one of the first DMM´s 2) next to no information on the web 3) it is a wonderful pedal  = my thoughts about rarity.

& will check the chip-set !

I passed on one of these years ago because, as I read somewhere, it wasn't the same as the slightly later DMMs.
No idea if it's true but I was looking for the above-mentioned modulation & the now ultra-famous chips.

I have no idea if any of the above is true.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Dude it was you!!! I called the guy a few minutes later than you, went to his house and bought an old Big Muff he found in another box (kind of a pity sale cuz he saw how bummed I was - the Muff is pretty damn cool though), and the Memory Man was still there, waiting to be packed and shipped.

What a nice guy this guy was, seriously!

He said, well another Pat called right before you... HA!
Well enjoy it, I've been on the hunt for a good MM for years now.
I also used to own a blue non-Deluxe MM I the early 2000s. Can't remember why I was so dumb to sell it. :fp:

@Pat: I was really fast, even tho i am down to no cash, because of covid of course. :fp: But yeah it felt like a no brainer! I even talked the guy down a little, but not too bad! Did he just found all of those things in his basement? Thats crazy! What kind of Big Muff is it? On kleinanzeigen he had a h&k retrosphare thing, too. Those must sound fantastic!

Today i had about 30min playtime, it has really alot of character. I really love it!
Even tho it is versatile, i am even not sure if it is really dark and muddy delay or somewhat of different.

It changes by the level pre-amping from different gain or intensity stages and that feels kind of special.
With like 3 oclock level the sound is clear and ringy, with level on 12 oclock it gets muddy and after that we will end by thee oh sees or la witch.

Yeah he said it's his brother's stuff, who passed away some weeks ago. He didn't want to keep that old stuff, had lotsa boutique amps etc.
When I mentioned I love old EHX stuff he said wait there's an old distortion I gave my bro about 40 years ago and pulls out this dusty BM.

It's an early v5 (1322 board, 1978 pots) which sounds fantastic. Already have one like it but I didn't want to leave without anything. Such a nice guy and story. Price was amazing too...

I have one of those, haven't really played it that much, and not next to my black one, so I can't really compare them, they both sound great though.

Ive played some hours now with it and i must admit, that it sounds really fantastic!
One thing: my level-button works as a "master", with no bypass it feels kind of strange.
I need now a a/b/y switch!

IT SOUNDS FANTASTIC!
Can you write a small review if you can compare both?

@Pat: I am really happy that we both got the funky EHX stuff! :-*

These pedals have a preamp that is always on so the level will always be engaged. Not a bad things at all, imo.

The most annoying thing for me ahah The size and that level thing that distorts it's the thing that bothers me the most.

It sounds great though...

Yeah, sure! It sounds really awesome though my silverface twin reverb!
It works great with my kind of playing, but there shall be a way to decide if it is needed or not, kinda.
