DOD Stereo Chorus FX65. I bought it new for about $65 around 1989 or 1990.
that was my first pedal! i bought a cheap Strat copy from a guy around 1989, and he threw in the chorus pedal for free. like an idiot, i later gave it away to a friend along with an Ibanez DL-10 delay. i guess it was a good gesture at the time, but i doubt he still has either pedal so now it gets a :fp:

i think now my longest-owned would be the Ibanez UE405 analog multi-FX i bought in 2003 from AnalogMan, who described it as "probably the best multi-FX ever" and was probably right 8)

First pedal I've owned, the TC Ditto Looper, best practice I've gotten in too!

there's a boss ds-1 in storage at my mom's house. have done all the mods over the years before nicer distortions became available. i got surprisingly good sounds with it. had it since.. maybe 2000?

my green russian small stone was almost the oldest but it got stolen. bought in 1997 after my green big muff.

I have bought, sold, traded so much it is hard to say. Either Boss SD1 or Ibanez FL99.

Fulltone OCD v1.4, since 2009? Just the right edge and fat in an overdrive.

My oldest pedal is my Morley volume pedal which I have owned for about 25 years now and it is still going strong.

First pedal, a Zoom 1010 is long gone. First stompbox I bought was a DS-1, from around 2000. I still have it, collects dust but I won’t get rid of it, not worth the hassle and it’s my first..

Wow. I forgot about that. Again.

My first pedal was a Zoom bass pedal - the 505 maybe? No idea where it is, and don’t really care. It was mildly interesting for a little while as a toy at best, but not good or actually usable, like most digital pedals from back then.

The Digitech RP200 pedal that I got a little bit later wasn’t much better. I gave that to a nephew to use for playing with headphones.

Yeah I remember those too, 505, etc. Seeing I was still in my early teens it was ‘perfect’, even as cartoonish idea of guitar tones. I didn’t have it long, I returned it and got the Zoom 3030. Not better, just more EFX. Then it was the first run of Hot Rod Deluxes, saved all my paychecks for, and a Boss ME-50, which was my only pedal (besides a Big Muff Pi, DS-1, and TS copy) that I used for over a decade.

Cartoonish is a great way to describe their sounds - most of them, at least.

The thing is, except for the much more expensive rack mount versions, that’s what almost all digital pedals were then, so those weren’t worse than other ones, they all pretty much sucked.

My guitarist bought a nice midi controlled half-rack effect unit around ‘90 that was very nice, but it was really expensive. He bought an ADA preamp for distortion, that thing for his effects, and a solid state power amp, and it sounded really good.

I have no idea if any of the not-dirt effects on those pedals would have been usable with a decent analog dirt pedal or not, but I have a feeling that where the digital conversion technology was back then (at least at that price point), even with it bypassed, there would probably be a very noticeable change in the overall sound from the pedal.

My home built ProCo Rat with few mods

Its currently my only and favorite overdrive/dist/fuzz and I cannot find equally good sounding pedal in any price range considering its versatility - its not perfect, it doesnt clean up well but it sounds great in any style or type of music.
Its the only pedal that will never be replaced.

I had the DOD Metal Maniac from 1993 to 2010 when that and a bunch of other stuff was stolen.

When I started collecting pedals again, the first one I replaced was the Visual Sounds Jekyl & Hyde.
Old silver box, found this 2nd one for just $40.
