JOYO Amp Sims
Hi, all... I currently use the Garageband sims and was wondering what the JOYO Vox and Fender sim pedals are like. Would they be an improvement? Is there anything better out there? I'm looking at cheap answers, but not just bargain bucket stuff.

Re: JOYO Amp Sims
I've got the Harley Benton American Sound (which is the same as the Joyo) recently to be able to record quietly while my daughter's sleeping and I think it sounds pretty good. I'm not by any means trying to make professional sounding recordings though, just recording ideas to send to the rest of the band. It has a decent built in cab simulator, but I had a Palmer The Junction PDI-09 lying around and like it even better going through that.

Re: JOYO Amp Sims
The Joyo American Sound I have beats every plugin I've ever used, and it also sounds loads better than my modded Bugera v5 amp to boot. It's a no brainer for the price.
It also takes pedals like a champ, I run a Blue Box, a Fulldrive2, 2 RATs and an EHX Attack Decay through it and they all sound great.
Apparently it's piss easy to remove the cab sim on it, so you could always do that mod if you choose to buy a separate cab sim pedal.

Re: JOYO Amp Sims
Yeah I used to try plugin amp sims for a number of years then tried some analog pedal style sims and got my hands on an american sound and it was a game ender, so good. Ended up getting another to run in stereo. Analog will always win over digital emulation, always!
If OSG has tort me anything...

I have the Joyo American Sound (it's cloned off the Tech 21 Blonde). While I don't have the others, any review or discussion says that the American Sound is by far the best of the series (AC tone, British, California). So if you get one of these pedals get the American Sound, if you are getting more then experiment.

I agree, that's brilliant! You could run them in stereo and run two different styles too. Maybe get some interesting combinations...MechaBulletBill wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 5:50 amthat's uhhhh a brilliant idea, i might have to get another.soggy mittens wrote: ↑Mon Apr 27, 2020 4:52 amYeah I used to try plugin amp sims for a number of years then tried some analog pedal style sims and got my hands on an american sound and it was a game ender, so good. +1 on the American Sound. It’s my backup for gigging.

American Sound is a great overdrive pedal. I haven't tried it direct though.

Re: JOYO Amp Sims
The Palmer Pocket Amp MKII is another option, but twice the price. It looks like a clone of the Sansamp GT-2, and has more switches for different amp sounds. I also like it has the headphone (no need for a mixer) and XLR outputs (for live use). Be sure to get the MKII because of the metal switch.
I learned to play guitar on a Sansamp PSA 1.1. I always though it sounded better than the Line 6 POD stuff and also the Logic Pro amps. But for recording I always preferred Amplitube until I had a real tube amp + Palmer PDI-03.
I really hated the latency and setup of computer amp plugins, I could never use that for daily practice.
