Chorus is my favorite effect.
Small Clone: so good, so cheap. For the price you can’t beat the small clone. I’m getting ready to pick up another
EQD sea machine: too wacky and hard to dial in normal chorus sounds
CE-3: good for that stereotypical 80s chorus. I prefer the small clone
Mr. Black double Chorus: the only digital chorus I’ve owned. Wasn’t bad, but you could tell that it was digital not necessarily a bad thing.
80’s CE-2: this chorus to me was weak. I preferred the Ce-3 and the small clone
Retro-sonic Chorus: this chorus was really good. Better than the small clone, but much more expensive also. A supposed CE-1 clone. While it came very close, it still wasn’t as thick or smooth as a ce-1.
Original Boss CE-1: my favorite chorus pedal. If it wasn’t for the price I’d have another one. People say they suck tone, and they do. But it didn’t bother me.

Basically sums up my feelings on existing chorus pedals. I also had a vintage CE-2 and thought it was pretty meh, but it seems like the reverbs on the CE-2W are really positive, so I might pick one up. Obviously would love to try the OG CE-1 some day.
Also worth mentioning is the Ibanez CS-9. I had one for awhile and thought it was pretty nice.

I like the Ibanez cs-9 way more than the old boss ce-2 ones I’ve played. I’m not sure how the reissues stack up, but the mini chorus is good and cheap (with a blend knob!) although mono only.
The Waza is pretty great though, and the ce-1 is way thicker and pretty much as advertised.
A dc-2 is one of my couple “never sell” pedals, especially in stereo.
I’ve also been enjoying the chorus on the old boss me-5 more than I expected to. (Somewhere between a ce2 and ce3).

The Ibanez CS9 is my fav. It has a dark psychedelic quality to it that makes it less 80s pop sounding. Kim Thayil from Soundgarden used one. Listen to the Louder Than Love LP for reference. Great pedal.

I keep shimmying between wanting to grab another CS9 and grabbing a CE2w instead. Obviously as a chorus fanatic I will eventually own both.

Yeah. Slightly different animal, but it's lovely.
Once the “true” chorus itch has been well scratched, that makes a nice addition.

Finally got one of the CE2ws. Looking forward to giving it a go with the band next week. Had a bit of a play earlier and the kneejerk reactions are:
CE-2 Mode: Still sounds really subtle and not really to my taste. Even with the depth maxed out it sounds like it's barely on. I don't get the hype
CE-1 Mode: Ahhh here we go. It's even a little flangey. This is probably the mode I'm gonna stick with because the depth sounds more comperable to my EHX Neo Clone on the "Switch Up" setting. Doesn't go QUITE as deep, but still sounds pretty cool. Definitely way less noisy and a bit more mid-friendly, so I'm curious to hear how that's gonna sound with full instrumentation.
Vibrato Mode: Only played a little but sounds VERY promising. Definitely going to mess with this more.
More as we proceed ahead. I'm tempted now to grab a CS9 and an Analogman Chorus and just go full hog until only one remains....

So I ended up ditching the CE2w after a week or so because it wasn't really doing it for me. CE1 mode was cool but I honestly found the mild flanging thing annoying after awhile. Used the proceeds to get an Analogman Mini Chorus and holy moly... what a sound.
