WHAT IS GOING ON OVER THERE?RuffiansFC wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 7:02 amI know BBE free fuzzes got super expensive all of a sudden. there was a video where he said something along the lines of "this pedal goes for around $50 on Reverb...for now." he knows what he's doing.stevejamsecono wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2019 5:48 amHonestly I'm starting to wonder about stuff like that. In JHS's case I think it's mainly an attempt to burnish the image.

I'll have to do some googling then. I'm not overly familiar. I was vaguely interested in a few of the delays they offer, but in general I'm not that interested in the pedals because they look goofy to me artwise.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 9:23 pmIn JHS's case I think it's mainly an attempt to burnish the image.

Honestly, so many people carrying a grudge for something that was smoke and mirrors. If you read through all the screeds, rebuttals, etc... on TGP (where his rep was tarnished for the most part, as far as I can tell), it's all noise and fury, signifying nothing.
The guy does the work, and it shows in his extremely well-written, well-researched, tightly edited, and generous vids. I've bought more non-JHS stuff because of his vids than his stuff, and I like his stuff.

I will grant that he comes across as more personable than many of his peers, and he is clearly a genuine pedal nerd. He’s trying to position himself as the good guy of the industry.Maggieo wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 2:03 pmOh, horseshit.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 9:23 pmIn JHS's case I think it's mainly an attempt to burnish the image.

He’s not the most technically savvy or innovative by a long shot.

Who is the most tech savvy or innovative? I'm kind of tempted to say it's BOSS.

When you are a big company like that you have fewer opportunities to do weird niche shit.

Haha. But seriously that’s a valid point. I tried a Dr. Scientist The Elements, and while there were some cool sounds in it, there were so many knobs and switches I can see getting frustrated with it, particularly on a dark stage.s_mcsleazy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 12:39 amso here is one someone said to me "i wont use a pedal if it takes me more than 30 seconds to dial in a good blues sound"

Chase Bliss stuff is like that -way too many switches and shit on a single pedal.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 8:39 amHaha. But seriously that’s a valid point. Re: i can't use this pedal because...
I haven’t tried any JHS pedals except for the Colourbox. But it’s a great pedal, no regrets about buying it.
I also sent a DS-1 to them to modify a few years ago, but still didn’t like it any better and sold it.
I read a lot of that stuff about him a while back, and I would assume that if he did do what they were saying, he’s smart enough to have moved away from it, and it’s been years now. From what I’ve read, most of his pedals were knock-offs of other brands’ pedals (Empress, etc.).
It seems weird to me to create a frenzy for used pedals in the market, unless he’s the one that’s selling them all.

Yeah, I already have a few pedals with lots of knobs & controls, where you can get lost in it and the manual for days.Maggieo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 1:12 pmChase Bliss stuff is like that -way too many switches and shit on a single pedal.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 8:39 amHaha. It’s one thing to have complicated controls for delays and similar things, but I need at least one memory setting to lock a setting in, for it to be dependable and usable.
I don’t need that kind of shit with a distortion pedal.
