My only “real” fuzz (I don’t count my Rats) is a Vick Audio Colorsound one knob clone. It’s midrange-city, but in a good way.
Yes. Those one knob fuzz are nice. I need to get another. I sold the one I had and planned on building my own clone, but never had the time.
My only complaint is it doesn’t clean up with the guitar volume in a flattering way.

^^ yes! But it’s depending on the clone. Some clean up like a Fuzz Face while others barely do at all.

I think the D*A*M version is on the barely at all end of the spectrum as he has it tuned for high gain, but lower gain transistors and bias get more clean up and less mids.

I have a few, and others that are (I think) fuzzes, but technically are treble booster circuits.

I have 3 Keeley Black Glass fuzzes, 3 Jext Telez Dizzy Tones, a bunch of different types of Jext Telez Range Lords , a ThroBack OD/B, and I'm currently selling a Fran's The Sweet. All of these clean up well with the volume, as I recall, although some are much more growly than others to clean up from.

With the Range Lords having the low/mid/high switch, they seem more capable of being fuzzes than just treble boosters, but even at the low settings, they do "sing" a lot more than most of my other fuzzes. Any opinions or facts about that being true or not?

It's a boost booster, to boost your boost - it makes your tone much muchier.

Proco Rat + Alesis Quadraverb - this combo can do a lot in the specific genre.
