Surfy Bear Project

Post by kdanie » Thu Mar 07, 2019 11:49 am

My Surfy Bear reverb kit showed up last fall just before I started traveling. I'm looking fwd to getting back to the house in the woods and putting it together. I'm debating on making the housing from wood or steel. I have skills & tools for both so the amount of work is about equal. If you could do either which would you choose?

May I suggest wood that is painted blonde with a strip down the middle left natural wood. It would be extra surfy that way

+1 for the Surfboard design idea. Sounds great!
I bended a aluminium plate in shape that now houses both my Surfy Bear and Surfy Trem - with an additional switch to choose which one comes first. Spring tank under the board - had no problems with it so far! And it sounds daaaaamn nice! :-)

Some good ideas. Now I'm thinking some good wood with maybe some aluminum trim. I have some nice walnut for a surfy inlay.

thanks

I want to put one under my pedal board. That’s the first thing I thought of anyway and I noticed a few folks have already done that.

The second thought I had was take an old Tonka toy truck, say an 18-wheeler, and put the springs in the reefer and the controls in the cab and give the people and nice WTF moment.

Because mounting it all in a toy army tank would be too obvious. “What’s that?” Asked the sound tech. “Why that’s my reverb tank, haven’t you ever seen one before?”
