Is There A Way?

Post by DiAmoroso » Sun Mar 03, 2019 11:10 am

Hey guys, hoping someone can help me here with this question. My electrical knowledge is pretty basic, so this is probably a pretty simple question to some of you.

Basically, I have a TC Helicon vocal processor that needs a 12v power supply. My Friedman power bank has 10 9v outputs. In the manual it states that I can use a provided cable to use 2 9v outputs as one 18v, so my first question is whether the 18v connection would power the 12v pedal? If not, is there something I can buy to convert an output or two to 12v? I would like to avoid buying a whole new power bank for the one pedal.

Cool, let us know what you come up with.

I have seen pedals that would take 18v or 9v. Hence what the friedman would let you do that.
like this thing:

What you get is more headroom.

BUT your TC Helicon seems to have its own proprietary power supply:

Not sure it would be that simple to get that our of your Friedman without some DYI (that's where I really can't help)

These guys make some very specific power elements to combine with your pedal board, so that you can supply your pedals with exactly what you need. Might be worth contacting them and see if there's something the have in combinations with your Friedman that may answer your needs:

Gracias senor!

Yes, the GigRig offers what I have decided would be the simplest solution in this here (Supa-Nova model):

Still, I'm going to take a bit of time to decide the best route, because I'm pretty sure something like this can be built for very cheap. I'm going to see if I can figure out how to build my own, but I'll probably end up shelling out the $$ for this adapter, since it's already prefabricated for exactly my purpose.

I considered selling the Friedman power supply to buy a power supply fully capable of powering my board, which might end up being a little cheaper than the price of the Friedman + the adapter but I have found very few power supplies that offer 12v @ 400mA or better. I also am in love with how silent the Friedman system is, although I'm not sure if that's more the power supply or the buffer bay, so I don't want to risk disrupting a good thing.
