Who's got the best Shimmer in town?

Looking to add another reverb or 2 to my board. Currently I have an eventide space and love that thing, but it's shimmer is not the greatest.
The other reverb pedal I obtain would functions as my primary shimmer reverb and also an "always on" verb for some normal verb and mild ambient tones. The eventide would continue serving its function as my super deep ambient/wacky verb .
Never tried a neunaber. Is that the obvious choice?

I have an Eterna Gold, and I really like it. Well, I kind of wish it had a trails mode, but that's it. I wish more shimmer pedal specs said explicitly how many octaves up they add. (The Eterna Gold adds four.)
The other one that I happen to be interested in is the Walrus Fathom. It's shimmer mode adds some sub octave as well (if you want it to), which seems interesting.

^^ That thing looks really interesting.
I have a Neunabor Saraphim, and it's got a nice shimmer, along with their Wet reverb, and each can work separately or together. It's probably even better on their newer pedal, the Immerse v2.
I also think Keeley's got a good one, on both his Caverns delay & reverb, and the hall setting on his Loomer & Realizer.
Those are the only ones that I'm familiar with, except for a patch on the Zoom MS 70 CDR. It's a great swiss knife pedal, it's very versatile and I love it, but I don't think that its shimmer is as rich as any of those.

Had to look up what this effect is.. It sounds like the old 80’s crystal echoes patch on the eventide H3000. Is that right?

jammed with my buddy the other night and he had this chasebliss dark world dual channel reverb ..
pricey, but it sounded beautiful.
worth it indefinitely.

The Eventide Space “shimmer“ effect is based on Crystal Echoes, yes, but the original Eno/Lanois treatment used on the Edge guitar tracks was a combination of an AMS digital delay that had modulation and a crude pitch shift/ harmonizer effect into a Lexicon 224 “Concert Hall” patch that was then further manipulated at the mixing desk by adjusting the sends and returns levels in real time.
In other words, if you want the effect as they recorded it, that’s not going to happen unless you hire Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.
However, both Lanois and the Edge have used “Crystal Echoes” from Eventide Harmonizer and Eclipse units in a live setting to replicate that sound, so it would seem that the Eventide Space should be able to do it with some tweaking.
I have been using Eventide, Roland and Yamaha rack units since the early 90s; never settle for the stock sounds, tweak them, otherwise you’ll just sound like everyone else that was too lazy to do anything but hit “preset #40.”

Gotcha, yeah I guess I'm super lazy and I don't like changing presets much. I'm sure I'm not even using 5% of the potential that my space is capable of. Just wanted a second verb for simpler verbs and shimmer that are easier to adjust on the fly for live playing. Then use the space for super gazey tones and studio experimentation.

I seriously doubt that anyone is interested in anything other than a pedal around here, but just in case I'll mention that Valhalla makes a great Shimmer reverb plug in:

The Eventide Space does. 50-1000 ms. They are rackmount, but my Yamaha SPX-900 and Roland GP-16 also have predelay settings for the pitchshift functions, at least 1000ms, maybe 2000ms on the Roland. I know I used it (250-300ms) on the Roland on some Cocteau Twins style patches, nothing like “shimmer” though.
Here is my Space setting. Not sure how far off it is from the factory preset as I bought 2nd hand and tweaked to something I liked:
Mix- 40%
Decay- 95
Size- 35
Delay- 60ms
Low- 80
Mid/Contour 100
High- 75
A Pitch- 1204c
B Pitch- 1193c
FxMix/Pitch Decay- 40
Then set the Hot Switch or an expression pedal to dial the predelay to “0” and the FxMix to “Freeze,” and the shimmer effect will be a string pad beneath whatever you play on top of it.

It's funny, because you guided me to selecting the space about a year or two ago I suppose and the settings you suggested are still some of my bread and butter sounds

I have 3 shimmer pedals on my board.
Mr Black Eterna Gold
Mr Black Trans Portal
MAK Octronix
Out of the three I use the Octronix the most because I am able to mix the octave up and down and blend with the dry signal and get a more subtle shimmer effect. It sounds more like a shimmer effect without the reverb if that makes sense. With a fuzz or distortion I can get some synth like sounds. If I want an over the top shimmer sound I use the Eterna Gold.

The Alexander Golden Summer has adjustable pre-delay in its shimmer mode. They've been discontinued, I think, but shouldn't be too difficult to find used or old/clearance stock.
